This program is your first step into the exhilarating world of dinghy sailing. Tailored for beginners, our course is designed to introduce you to the joys of sailing in a fun, supportive, and safe environment. Whether you're looking to take up a new hobby or dreaming of sailing the seas, this course is the perfect starting point.
During the course, you'll learn the essentials of boat handling, sail control, and key safety procedures. We focus on practical, hands-on learning to build your confidence on the water. By the end of the course, you'll be able to sail in light winds under supervision and gain a basic understanding of sailing techniques and background knowledge.
The course is conducted in Laser Pico single-handed dinghies, ideal for beginners. You'll start with learning to rig the boat and understanding its controls. Once you're ready, we'll take to the water, giving you the thrilling experience of helming a sailing dinghy on your own, all under the watchful eye of our expert RYA instructors.
Our centre offers an unmatched sailing experience with our passionate, RYA qualified instructors leading the way. We pride ourselves on providing a warm, welcoming environment where everyone, regardless of experience, can learn and enjoy the thrill of sailing. With our beautiful location, top-notch facilities, and commitment to safety and fun, you're in for an unforgettable sailing adventure.
Set sail with us and discover a new passion on the open waters!
Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive the RYA Level 1 certificate. Our instructors assess your skills throughout the two days, ensuring you meet the required competencies, such as sailing in various directions and understanding basic safety procedures. The certificate is a recognition of your newfound skills and is the first step in the RYA sailing pathway, opening doors for further sailing adventures and courses.
Sailing is a weather-dependent activity, but we don't let a bit of rain stop us! We continuously monitor weather conditions and adapt our sailing activities accordingly. If the weather is deemed unsafe for sailing (like in the case of high winds or thunderstorms), we have a range of alternative activities and theory sessions to ensure your learning experience continues. Your safety is our top priority, so we'll always make decisions with that in mind.

The course was excellent from start to finish, anyone that’s into boating or thinking about boating try this course. It has gave me the skills and confidence to buy my own boat and drive it comfortably on both the lakes and sea. Excellent value for money.
The course was very well run and information was clearly passed on to the group. Matt, who ran the course, was excellent. He really looked after us and made the two days fun and easy to follow. I’d highly recommend, especially for the breakfast and lunch
