Overview

Experience the world's highest free-standing mountain on this rewarding Mount Kilimanjaro day hike via the famous Marangu Route. Perfect for those who want to experience the beauty of Kilimanjaro without committing to a multi-day summit climb, this guided adventure takes you through lush montane rainforest to the scenic Maundi Crater, reaching an altitude of approximately 3,000 metres above sea level.

Your day begins with collection from your hotel in Arusha or Moshi at around 07:30, followed by a scenic 40-minute drive to Marangu Gate. After meeting your professional Kilimanjaro guide and completing the park registration, you'll begin your ascent at approximately 08:30.

The trail passes through beautiful rainforest, where you may spot blue monkeys, black-and-white colobus monkeys and a variety of colourful bird species. As you climb, enjoy changing landscapes and spectacular views before reaching Maundi Crater, one of the best viewpoints on the lower slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro. On a clear day, you'll enjoy panoramic views across northern Tanzania and neighbouring Kenya.

Relax with a picnic lunch while taking in the scenery before beginning your descent back to Marangu Gate. After approximately 7 hours of hiking, you'll be transferred back to your hotel in Arusha or Moshi, arriving in the early evening.
