If you’re aiming to become a Paddlesport Leader, our training programme is designed to support you in developing the essential skills. This practical course will enhance your leadership, personal paddling, and safety and rescue abilities. You will also receive guidance on creating an action plan to prepare for a successful assessment. Typically, our courses range from two to five days, with longer sessions providing more time for skill practice and development.
Over the course of two days, you will delve into various aspects of paddlesport leadership. The programme is divided into practical sessions and group activities.
On the first day, you will focus on developing paddling skills tailored to calm and sheltered water conditions. This includes learning and refining paddle strokes, boat control, and manoeuvring techniques. The afternoon will be dedicated to safety and rescue skills, covering risk assessment and essential rescue techniques.
The second day emphasises leadership and group management. You will engage in activities that build effective communication skills and group management techniques necessary for leading paddling trips. The day will conclude with discussions on environmental considerations and ethical practices related to paddlesport activities, ensuring responsible stewardship of natural resources.
