For families, the cargo bike offers a practical and safe option for getting around with young children. The box at the front of the bike can comfortably carry two kids, securely strapped in with seatbelts, while you explore the city. Our bikes come with all the necessary equipment, including two locks for added security and high-quality safety lights.

You'll also have the option to add accessories like panniers, baskets, helmets, and phone/GPS holders to your rental. If you’re unfamiliar with cycling in the city, our staff can offer helpful tips on bike safety, including the best routes to take, how to lock your bike, and how to safely navigate Amsterdam’s busy streets. Plus, we ensure that all bikes are well-maintained and ready to go, whether you’re here for a quick ride or a longer-term rental.

Location

Our rental shop is centrally located in Vondelpark, one of the most famous spots in Amsterdam, close to key attractions and scenic cycling routes. You'll have easy access to bike paths that weave through the city's historic streets, along the canals, and through lush parks.

Our location makes it simple to pick up your bike and set off on your exploration right away.

No prior experience is necessary to rent a bike from us. We provide bikes of all sizes and can adjust saddles and handlebars for a perfect fit. If you're unfamiliar with cycling in Amsterdam, don’t worry—our staff will ensure you're comfortable and confident before heading out. We recommend wearing comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing to make your ride more enjoyable.

If you're planning to use the cargo bike, we’ll give you a quick demo on how to handle it safely and efficiently, especially when turning and managing the additional weight.

Preguntas frecuentes:

What size bikes do you have and how do I know which one will fit me?

Our bikes come in two frame sizes to suit a range of heights, while children’s bikes are also available in two sizes. All bikes have adjustable saddles and handlebars, so we can fine-tune each one to match your height and riding style.

When you arrive, staff will help you choose the right size and make any adjustments needed to ensure a comfortable and safe fit before you head out on your ride.

To hire a children’s bike, please see the other available sessions listed at the bottom of this page.

How do I lock the bike securely, and what kind of locks are provided?

To help prevent theft, every bike comes equipped with a robust locking system. Standard bikes include both a frame-mounted ring lock and a separate cable lock. E-bikes are fitted with an additional lock for extra security.

The ring lock secures the rear wheel, while the cable lock should be used to attach the bike to a fixed object such as a bike rack, gate, or lamp post. If you're riding with others, it’s also possible to chain your bikes together. Just double-check that you haven’t mistakenly locked your bike to someone else’s.

What clothes should I wear for cycling in Amsterdam?

Wear comfortable clothing that allows for easy movement, and always dress appropriately for the weather. In cooler temperatures, dressing in layers works best—you may feel cold at first, but you’ll warm up quickly as you start pedalling.

Lightweight jackets, gloves, and scarves can be useful during colder months. Avoid tight trousers or clothing that might restrict your legs while riding, especially if you're planning a longer route. Footwear should be secure and suitable for pedalling.

Are there any areas in Amsterdam I should avoid when cycling?

Amsterdam is considered a safe city for cyclists, and there are no specific areas that are unsafe to ride in. That said, it's always wise to trust your instincts—if you’re cycling through a poorly lit or isolated street at night and it doesn’t feel right, choose a busier route.

Stick to marked cycle paths whenever possible, and be cautious in areas with heavy pedestrian traffic.

Can I park my bike anywhere in the city?

No, parking rules do apply in Amsterdam. Bikes should always be parked in designated bicycle racks or clearly marked parking areas, which are widely available throughout the city. Avoid parking in the middle of pavements, near entrances, or on roads, as improperly parked bikes may be removed.

Around key locations like train stations or popular spots such as Leidseplein, it's especially important to use official parking facilities to avoid fines or bike removal.

How much can the panniers carry?

Our panniers have a maximum capacity of 14 litres, offering enough space to carry small bags, groceries, or personal items.

If you're planning to carry something heavier or bulkier, consider using a backpack as an alternative or additional option.
