This course is an in-depth navigation and theory programme designed to prepare you for advanced sailing challenges and the MCA Yachtmaster exam. Whether you choose to complete it online or in the classroom, it’s tailored to equip you with essential knowledge for confident and safe navigation.
In this course, you'll explore advanced navigation topics to build your confidence in planning and executing passages. The syllabus covers critical areas such as chart work, tidal calculations, and meteorology, essential for safe coastal and offshore sailing. Through a blend of theory and practical exercises, you’ll use training charts, almanacs, and other resources to simulate real-world scenarios.
Classroom courses run over six intensive days with direct instructor guidance, while online participants benefit from 24/7 support, allowing for flexible study over six months. Expect to deepen your understanding of collision regulations, electronic navigation tools, and safety procedures, including liferaft use, lifejacket protocols, and emergency communication. You’ll also prepare for three final assessments focusing on chart work, meteorology, and general knowledge.
Courses can be completed at our centre, an ideal place to develop your skills with its excellent facilities and convenient location in Barcelona.
Alternatively, the online option lets you study from the comfort of your own home while still accessing expert support.
Participants should have a solid understanding of navigation and basic sailing theory, such as that gained from the RYA Day Skipper Theory.
Our team of qualified, English-speaking instructors combines expertise with a friendly approach to make your learning enjoyable and engaging. With consistently maintained boats chosen for their performance and stability, you’ll train in comfort whether online or in person.
Additionally, our centre offers great conditions, including reliable winds and abundant sunshine, creating the perfect environment for advanced sailing courses.

The Yachtmaster exam consists of three parts: chart work, meteorology, and general knowledge. You can take the exams from home if you're not using the Yachtmaster for commercial purposes.
However, if you intend to use the Yachtmaster certification for commercial use, the exams must be taken at our centre.
Both the online and classroom courses cover the same content and lead to the same qualification. The classroom course is completed over six consecutive days, providing face-to-face instruction and more structured support.
