A supportive two-day sailing course designed for young people taking their very first steps on the water. Practical sessions focus on learning by doing, helping participants feel comfortable, capable and confident from the outset. Everything is introduced at a steady pace, with plenty of time to practise and enjoy being afloat.
Day one focuses on getting comfortable with the boat, equipment and water environment. After a clear safety briefing, young sailors head out onto sheltered water to practise steering, stopping and starting, and understanding how the sails control speed and direction. Instructors stay close by, offering encouragement and clear guidance while allowing participants to learn through hands-on experience.
As confidence builds, sessions introduce simple sailing manoeuvres and short sails that help reinforce how wind and boat movement work together. Time on the water is balanced with short pauses ashore to explain concepts in a clear, age-appropriate way, helping everything click without feeling overwhelming.
On the second day, participants spend longer sailing independently within the group, putting together everything they’ve learned so far. Activities are adapted to suit ability and conditions, ensuring everyone progresses comfortably. By the end of the course, sailors leave with a solid foundation and a clear understanding of how to continue developing their skills.
Sessions take place on a large inland reservoir that provides ideal conditions for beginner youth sailing. Sheltered sections of water allow learning to happen without pressure, while still offering plenty of space to practise manoeuvres safely and confidently.
Away from the water, the surrounding area offers open views and a relaxed atmosphere that helps young sailors feel at ease. Clearly defined launch points and activity zones keep sessions organised, allowing instructors to focus fully on coaching and safety.
No prior sailing experience is required, making this course suitable for complete beginners. Participants should be comfortable around water and able to follow instructions given by instructors both on shore and afloat.
Clothing should be suitable for getting wet and appropriate for the weather, including closed footwear. Arriving a little early each day allows time for changing, fitting equipment and pre-session briefings.
Youth sailing has been developed here with long-term experience and a strong focus on structured progression. Courses are designed to balance skill development with enjoyment, ensuring young people feel supported rather than rushed.
Instructors are experienced in teaching younger sailors and understand how to build confidence gradually. Well-managed water areas, reliable equipment and clear safety systems create an environment where learning feels positive and reassuring from start to finish.
