Immerse yourself in our Women's Surf and Paddle Board Weekend Retreats in Pembrokeshire, West Wales. Tailored for women of all surfing abilities, from complete beginners to intermediate surfers, our retreats focus on skill development, performance analysis, and creating a fun, supportive environment.
Over the course of the weekend, you will take part in 3 surfing lessons and 1 stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) adventure. On the Saturday and Sunday, you will do one activity in the morning and one in the afternoon. We will order these depending on the conditions and tides.
Your weekend will look like this:
You'll be staying in comfortable, shared accommodation for two nights (Friday and Saturday), ensuring you're well rested and ready for your surf and paddle boarding adventures.
Our activities take place at some of Pembrokeshire's most beautiful coastal locations, including Freshwater West Beach, Stackpole Quay, Tenby, and Saundersfoot. The exact venues are selected based on weather, surf forecasts, and tides to ensure the best experience. Accommodation address and meeting point will be confirmed upon booking.
Open to women of all surfing and paddle boarding levels. Participants should be comfortable in the water but no previous experience is necessary.
With over 16 years of experience running Women's Weekends, our team of SLSGB Qualified Lifeguards and ISA Qualified Coaches offers over 30 years of combined coaching experience. Our retreats are not just about learning and improving your surf and SUP skills, but also about building a community, sharing experiences, and having fun in a supportive atmosphere.
Once booked, we’ll provide a confirmation email with all the details you need for an unforgettable weekend of surfing and paddleboarding.
Yes! All of our lessons and packages include free wetsuit hire. It is helpful when you book to let us know your dress size, so that we can accommodate. We have sizes 6-20 prepped for you.
Equally, if you have your own, you are very welcome to bring it along! If you only have a shortie or are unsure if it still fits you (don't worry it happens!), let us know what size you are anyway and we can bring you a suit just in case.
For ease, we recommend using one of our SUP board. They are all top of the range O’shea, Jobe and Finla boards.
For surfing, if you have your own board then you are more than welcome to use it. For those new to surfing, we do recommend one of our foam boards as they really help when you are learning.
For SUP, you don’t need shoes. Bare feet grip very well to our boards. However, if your trip is from Stackpole Quay, we recommend bringing some shoes that you can leave in a bag at the Quay as there are a few stones to walk over to get to the water's edge.
For surfing, you may want to bring some shoes to walk over the pebbles at our surf beaches. These will be left on the beach while we are in the water so please don't bring your most treasured shoes!
The beauty of watersports is that anyone can give them a go! We have taken people on the water from every walk of life imaginable. All we ask is that you can swim at least 25m unaided, which is for your safety.
Yes, in most cases you can still come along to our weekends. All of our instructors take ‘rescue bags’ out on the water with them so any medications can go into this bag for the duration of the activities. If you would like to discuss this with us further, please request for a member of the team to contact you.
We do ask that you can swim at least 25m unaided in order to join us on any one of our sessions. This is for your safety.
We use various accommodation providers across the South Pembrokeshire area including lovely country houses on the Stackpole Estate and hotel-style seaside accommodation in Saundersfoot and Tenby. Most of our accommodation has self-catering facilities. Please note, some accommodation will be shared.
We will confirm the accommodation for your weekend upon booking.
Your accommodation will be well signposted with our signage for your arrival and you can check in from 4pm. The following day your team of instructors for the week will meet you just outside your accommodation at 9am for a meet & greet.
Most of our accommodation providers offer self catering facilities so you can make your own breakfasts. For lunches, we recommend packed lunches or you can buy lunch at our location venues which all offer options for food. We will book a lovely pub for Saturday evening so the whole group can enjoy a meal together.
Of course you can! The majority of women who come along on our weekends come solo. We want to connect you with like-minded ladies who enjoy similar activities!
Pembrokeshire and the locations we use for our activities are quite remote. However, we can offer advice and recommendations for local public transport options, just get in touch with us prior to your arrival. Once everyone has arrived for the weekend, we recommend car sharing as location venues can be busy.
All our water based activities are subject to weather and swell conditions. We want to make sure you have the best possible experience on the water with us so we will email you the week before your arrival with a rough schedule based on the forecast and will fill in any gaps at the meet & greet.
For guidance, surfing sessions tend to be run from Freshwater West or Manorbier Beach, and SUP sessions from Stackpole Quay, Tenby North Beach or Saundersfoot Harbour.
Our locations do not have changing facilities so we recommend wearing your swimming costume under your clothes. Tenby North Beach has a cold water public shower that is free to use. All other locations do not have shower facilities. We recommend bringing a towel robe or dry robe to change after your session. All of our locations have toilet facilities.
Yes! You can leave your car keys etc in our vans or our lockups (depending on the location). We do not take responsibility for any items left and we do have limited space so please don’t bring your diamond jewellery and massive overnight bags on your daytime activities!
Each activity lasts 1.5 - 2hrs.

Hi, thanks it was great, 5 stars, great teacher. Cheers, Sarah
Our booking was at midday for 2 hours, but we didn’t get the stuff until 12:15 when the lady came back with the surf school. We were then told to bring the stuff back before 2 pm or she wouldn’t be there (we needed to get our deposit back). This…
Got some surfboards and wetsuits for a couple of hours. They were dropped off at the right place right time, he was very helpful and knowledgeable, gave us a little info about the beach because we hadn't surfed there before. Will definitely be using again and recommending
We enjoyed our kayaking thoroughly. Much thanks to Jenny who supported our ride plan and made changes accordingly. Big cheers to her 👏🏻🙌🏼
