This weekend is designed for women aged 18 and over who are comfortable in whitewater and ready to start catching green waves. You’ll enjoy focused coaching sessions tailored to your goals while connecting with like-minded women in a friendly, supportive environment. By combining on-water practice, video feedback, and surf theory, the weekend ensures measurable progress and lots of fun.
The weekend begins on Friday with check-in from 3pm, allowing you to settle in and prepare for a full two days of surfing and coaching. Saturday starts with an equipment briefing and meeting your coach before a dryside lesson to review techniques. You’ll then move into the water for your first surf session, practicing key skills in the Cruiser wave setting. After lunch, the focus shifts to video feedback and surf theory, followed by personalised dryside instruction and a second on-water session. An optional group dinner is available in the evening for those staying onsite.
Sunday continues with equipment setup and a dryside session, progressing straight into water time to practise techniques introduced the previous day. Lunch provides an opportunity to relax, review progress, and decide whether to fit in extra surf time before departure. Small group sizes ensure everyone receives attention from the same coach all weekend, allowing for tailored guidance and a supportive learning atmosphere.
The weekend is available as a surf-only package for those who do not need accommodation. Booking the weekend through adventuro chat allows you to select your preferred option.
The weekend takes place in Newbridge, just a 10-minute drive from Edinburgh Airport and conveniently accessible via the M8 and M9 motorways. Set in extensive grounds, the wave pool provides a controlled environment for safe and progressive learning. Nearby canal-side paths and woodland trails offer opportunities to enjoy the outdoors between sessions or after your weekend ends.
A short distance from Edinburgh city centre and within easy reach of Glasgow, the location provides both convenience and a scenic setting. Free parking is available onsite, and EV chargers are provided. The area is easy to reach by public transport, including bus and tram links, making it simple to combine your surfing weekend with other activities in the region.
Accommodation is available in one of the resort’s comfortable lodges. Rooms are designed for sharing, with the option to select single-occupancy if preferred. Lodges are fully equipped, featuring modern amenities and well-equipped kitchens if you wish to prepare your own meals. For those who prefer dining out, the waterfront café and bar offer a variety of options from early morning to late evening.
Guests staying onsite will find it easy to access all facilities, including communal areas, showers, and drying spaces for wetsuits. Accommodation is arranged so that all participants can remain close to the wave pool and enjoy a convenient and relaxing weekend without unnecessary travel between sessions.
Participants should be confident in whitewater and have basic surfing experience. Prior experience helps you make the most of coaching and build towards catching green waves consistently. A willingness to learn, practise, and engage in both on- and off-water sessions is essential.
A reasonable level of fitness and water confidence is recommended, as sessions include multiple periods of active surfing, video review, and dryside drills. Being prepared to engage with your coach and peers will help you achieve your personal progression goals and enjoy the full benefits of the weekend.
This surf weekend is delivered in a resort powered by state-of-the-art Wavegarden technology, bringing consistent, high-quality waves in a controlled environment. Facilities are set within extensive grounds offering both relaxation and active outdoor experiences, with access to woodland and canal-side walks.
Experienced coaches provide step-by-step instruction, including video feedback and surf theory to accelerate progression. Beyond surfing, the resort offers wellness spaces, a sauna, and a surf-skate academy, creating a holistic and fun environment for improvement, relaxation, and connection with fellow surfers.
A lesson gives you guided support from an instructor who will focus on building confidence in the water, showing you how to handle your board, and helping you progress to the next stage of your surfing. This approach keeps things structured, with coaching tailored to the group’s ability so everyone learns at a pace that feels comfortable. In contrast, this session may involve more independent time on the waves depending on what you’ve booked.
A standard session is more about free surfing within a supervised environment. You’ll still have support around you if needed, but the aim is to let you apply your skills and enjoy time on the water. It’s ideal for anyone wanting space to practise rather than follow a coached plan from start to finish.
Changing facilities are available close to where this session is based, providing a warm place to get ready before heading out and somewhere comfortable to warm up afterwards. These areas are designed to be spacious and easy to use, especially for families or anyone managing young children or extra kit.
You’ll find indoor changing rooms with showers, lockers, and amenities such as hair dryers. Everything is arranged so you can store your valuables securely and rinse off after the water without needing to rush.
When this session is running, qualified lifeguards are on duty to monitor the water and keep everyone safe. They work alongside trained surf instructors who handle both the coaching environment and water-based supervision.
Their training covers a wide range of rescue and first-aid skills, ensuring you’re taking part in an activity overseen by professionals who can respond quickly to changing conditions. This gives you the reassurance of having expert support throughout your time in the water.
You’ll need to be able to swim at least 25 metres without any assistance to join this session. This minimum level ensures you’re confident enough to move through the water independently, even if you fall from your board or need to paddle back to a safe area.
Being comfortable in the water is just as important as swimming ability. Having a bit of confidence helps you get more out of the activity, as you’ll be more relaxed while learning new skills or handling waves.
Wetsuits and accessories suitable for local water conditions are provided as part of this session, including additional items like boots, gloves, or a hood when needed. Boards are also supplied so you don’t need to purchase or carry your own equipment unless you want to.
You’re welcome to bring your own wetsuit if you prefer using personal kit, and the team can check it fits the conditions on the day. Bringing a familiar wetsuit can be helpful for regular surfers wanting a consistent feel in the water.
Local water temperatures can vary, and cooler days are always possible. To keep you comfortable, the centre provides thick wetsuits and thermal accessories designed to retain heat during longer sessions.
Even on cold days, these wetsuits offer consistent warmth so you can focus on your time in the waves. Staff will help ensure you’re dressed appropriately before you start.
There is a café, bar, or restaurant near the activity area where you can order food and drinks before or after this session. Seating is available inside, with some spots offering views of the water so you can watch others surf.
Takeaway options are usually available as well, making it easy to grab something quickly between activities. Staff at the venue can guide you through ordering, dietary information, and seating availability.
Yes, the surf-only option is available, and you can enquire via the adventuro chat. You’ll still have access to all coaching sessions and the full weekend itinerary, just without staying onsite. This option allows more flexibility for local participants or those preferring alternative accommodation.
Surf-only participants are integrated fully into all lessons and dryside sessions. Coaches will ensure everyone has equal time on the water and receives tailored guidance, regardless of accommodation choice. To book this session without accommodation, please contact us via the adventuro chat.
