Class III water starts just below Štrbački Buk and keeps moving for the whole descent, so you spend the morning working as a crew rather than drifting between quiet pools. A guide sits in the raft, calls the strokes and reads the line, and the kit is fitted at the village base before anyone launches. No prior rafting is needed, though everyone on the trip must be twelve or older.
You'll find us in Nebljusi, then we take a short ride to the put-in below Štrbački Buk. The first thing you see is the waterfall, and the Class III water starts right under it. There's no long flat warm-up: you get into the raft as a crew, your guide calls the strokes from the back, and the river keeps you working from the first bend.
The run stays in moving water through a wooded canyon until you take out at Loskun. It feels like a proper whitewater morning rather than a scenic drift, which is why people who want a quiet paddle usually pick another river. We van you back to the same village so you can change and head on.
Nebljusi sits on the Croatian side of the Una, close to the Bosnia border, and the meeting point is on the D218 in the village itself. The river here is known for clear water and a run that starts under Štrbački Buk rather than a long flat warm-up. Plitvice Lakes National Park is about an hour and a half away, so many people pair the descent with a stay in that area.
The canyon is wooded and steep enough that the road above feels a long way from the water once you launch. Loskun, where you finish, is a short drive back to Nebljusi, and there is space at the base to change and sort kit before you leave. Bring your own car to the village unless a transfer is booked as part of your rate.
You need to be at least twelve, in general good health, and happy to paddle when the guide asks for it. Being able to swim is strongly advised on Class III water, even though you wear a buoyancy aid and helmet for the whole run. No technique is expected beforehand.
This stretch is not suitable if you are pregnant, and it is a poor fit if you have a recent injury or a serious heart condition. Taking part is always subject to the guide's judgement on the water that morning.
Guides on this stretch work the same put-in below Štrbački Buk through the season, so they already know how the line changes with the flow. Most hold International Rafting Federation licences and refresh first aid and river-rescue skills on a regular cycle. All technical kit is fitted at the base, including a buoyancy aid, helmet and paddle, before the short drive to the start.
The day is built as a single guided descent rather than a sightseeing loop, and the group stays small enough that the person at the back of your raft can actually see the crew. You meet and finish in the same village, so you are not left to find your own way back from the take-out.
None at all. A guide steers from the back of the raft and tells the crew when to paddle, so your job is to listen, keep your seat and put the blade in when you are asked.
Plenty of people on a typical departure are doing this for the first time. The river does the teaching once you launch.
The minimum age on this Una descent is twelve, which is firmer than the kayak and raft days on the Zrmanja and Mrežnica. Anyone under eighteen should come with a responsible adult.
If someone in your group is close to that limit, say so when you book so the age can be checked rather than left until the morning in the village.
You start just below Štrbački Buk, so the first water is the waterfall and the Class III run that follows it. There isn't a long flat stretch to settle in.
Your guide is in the raft from the first stroke. That is the point of this trip: you are in moving water almost immediately.
Wear a swimsuit under a T-shirt or rash vest, and bring water shoes or sandals that can get wet, a towel and a full dry change for afterwards. Sun cream, drinking water and a snack are worth packing because there is little shade on the river.
Leave phones in the car or at the base. Technical kit is supplied, so you do not need to hire a buoyancy aid, helmet or paddle.
It can happen on Class III water and it is treated as a normal part of the day rather than an emergency. You will be in a buoyancy aid and helmet, and we show you the safe swimming position and how to get back to the boat.
Guides watch the crew the whole way down, so a recovery is usually quick. Most people come out with a mouthful of river and then climb back in.
The meeting point is on the D218 in Nebljusi, postcode 53250, on the Croatian side of the Una. You collect kit there and take a short transfer to the put-in below Štrbački Buk.
You will need your own transport to the village unless you have booked a transfer as part of your rate. There is space around the base to leave a car while you are on the water.
Allow around three hours from the moment you meet in Nebljusi to the moment you are back from Loskun. That covers getting ready, the transfer to the start, time on the water and the ride back to the village.
The time on the raft itself depends on the flow that day. Typical start time for most tours is around 10:00.
Light rain rarely stops a day when you were always going to be wet. The kit keeps you protected while you paddle.
The trip is moved or called off only when the river or weather is outside what is safe. If that happens, you are offered another date or a refund in line with the cancellation terms.
Yes. Every trip needs at least four paying guests, and this descent can take up to sixteen. If your own group is smaller than four, you may still run if other bookings that day bring the total up.
If the minimum is not reached, you will be contacted about another date or a refund. Say how many of you are coming when you book so the rafts can be planned properly.
For one-day tours there is no charge if you cancel eight or more days before the activity. Between two and seven days before, half the booking is charged, and a cancellation one day before or a no-show is charged in full.
If we have to stop the descent for safety, you are offered another date or a refund.
