Grade 1 to 4 water on the Vrbas, a skipper at the helm, and pickup in Banja Luka come together on this half-day rafting run through the canyons outside town. We bring the raft, kit, and transfer so your group can paddle as a crew without sorting logistics on the day.
After collection in Banja Luka we drive to the put-in, where you are fitted with a helmet, buoyancy aid, and paddle and briefed on paddle calls and what to do if you swim. On the water the skipper reads the line through Tijesno and Podmilacje while everyone paddles on command, then rests in the quieter stretches between the bigger waves.
Swim stops are built in where the river allows, and we hand out a waterproof bag for phones and small valuables. When the raft comes off the water we load the kit and drive you back into town, typically within the three-and-a-half-hour window from pickup to drop-off.
The Vrbas leaves Banja Luka and soon tightens into forested canyons that hosted world championship rafting, so the access and safety setup suit guided groups rather than a remote bush launch. Cliffs, bridges, and swim spots line the run, with the city only a short drive from the take-out.
Pickup starts in the city centre or at your hotel; we confirm the exact time and meeting point when you book. This product uses the canyon stretch downstream of town, not the shallow urban channel where the dayak boats work.
Comfort in a buoyancy aid, the ability to follow shouted instructions, and willingness to sit in a raft for a few hours are enough for most first-timers. Children from age six can join when booked with an adult, and we need at least two participants on the reservation.
Mention back, shoulder, or heart issues when you book so we can adjust seating or skip optional jumps. Gym fitness is not required, but expect to paddle as a team and get thoroughly wet.
Our skippers know this stretch week in and week out and pace the day for mixed groups rather than race crews. If the water is high or someone is nervous, we choose gentler lines and keep the briefing clear before anyone enters the raft.
Pickup, driver, host, full raft kit, and the return transfer are one booking, so you are not coordinating shuttles on the morning. You get a proper bank-side safety talk, dry storage for your phone, and a straightforward run back into Banja Luka when the trip ends.
You are collected from your hotel or an agreed spot in Banja Luka city centre. On the drive out you get a short briefing on paddle calls, where to sit, and what to do if you swim. At the put-in you are issued a helmet, buoyancy aid, and paddle, and you practise a few strokes on flat water before the first rapid.
The raft moves into the faster water through Tijesno and Podmilacje. Difficulty sits around grade 3 to 4 in places, with quieter grade 1 to 2 stretches between. The skipper calls the line. You paddle on command, then rest in the pools. Optional jumps happen only where the guide says the landing is clear.
Where the river opens out, you can swim and take photos from the waterproof bag. Lunch is only laid on if you asked for it when you booked. After the take-out, kit is collected and you are driven back into Banja Luka, usually within the 3.5 hour window.
No. The skipper and guides run this stretch for mixed groups, including first-timers. You get a safety brief on the bank, then paddle as a team while they choose lines that match the water on the day.
If you have never sat in a raft, say so at pickup. They will put you where you can hear instructions clearly and keep the pace steady through the easier grade 1 to 2 water as well as the busier grade 3 to 4 waves.
You should be happy to sit in a raft for a few hours, hold a paddle, and follow shouted calls. The website rates this around 5 out of 10 for physical effort. You do not need gym fitness, but a basic swimming ability helps if you go in the water on a swim stop.
If you have a back, shoulder, or heart issue, tell Aleksa when you book. They can adjust seating and skip optional jumps. The run is not a race. There are calmer stretches between the rapids.
Bokun lists a minimum age of 6. Younger children are not booked on this product. Height and confidence in water matter as much as age, so mention anyone near that limit when you book.
Monday confirmed that ages vary by activity. This rafting product is the one with a numeric minimum of 6. Family groups still need at least two paying participants.
Wear swimwear under clothes you do not mind getting wet, plus shoes that stay on in the river. Bring a towel, sunscreen, and a spare dry layer for after the run. Phones and cameras go in a waterproof bag the team provides.
Leave jewellery and expensive electronics at the hotel if you can. Lunch is only arranged if you ask in advance, so pack a snack if you want food on the bank. Personal expenses stay with you.
You raft with a skipper and the kit they issue: helmet, buoyancy aid, and paddle. The Vrbas hosted world championship racing here in 2009, and the guides pick lines for mixed groups rather than race pace. Jumps from cliffs or bridges only happen where they say it is safe.
River level changes with rain. If the water is too high or too low, they will move or cancel rather than force the run. Follow the brief, keep your feet up if you swim, and listen for the stop and go calls.
Allow about 3.5 hours door to door. That covers pickup in Banja Luka, kit, time on the water, and the drive back. Time in the raft is usually two to four hours depending on water and how many swim stops you take.
The website lists a 50 km outing. You will not be walking that distance. Most of it is vehicle transfer plus the river section through the Tijesno and Podmilacje canyons.
This run is mildly weather dependent. Light rain is common and the raft still goes. Thunder, very high water, or a sudden drop in level can stop the day. You will hear that morning, not at the put-in.
Free cancellation applies up to 48 hours before the scheduled start. Inside that window, talk to the team if the river is the reason. They would rather move you than send a raft out in unsafe water.
Yes. The same river has quiet pools and busier waves. Guides slow the boat, talk you through each rapid, and use the calmer water to reset. You are not expected to paddle like a race crew.
Tell them at the briefing. They can seat nervous paddlers in the middle of the raft and skip optional jumps. Most first-timers finish surprised at how quickly the calls start to make sense.
There is no single street pin on this product. Monday and Bokun both treat Banja Luka city centre as the base, and the team mostly picks you up from your hotel or a spot you agree the night before.
Once you book, they confirm the time and pickup point. If you are already in town and prefer to make your own way, ask. Do not go looking for a raft base without that message.
The live price includes pickup, a driver, the host, a skipper, and all raft kit. You do not hire a helmet or buoyancy aid separately. Lunch is only included if you request it when you book.
Personal spending, extra food, and photos you take on your own phone stay outside the price. Group size is a minimum of two and a maximum of 15 on this product.
