Hire a premium paddleboard on the River Thames at Streatley and explore the Goring Gap at your own pace. Choose a two-hour slot, a half-day hire or a full day on the water with board, paddle, leash and buoyancy aid included, plus a safety briefing before you launch.
Hire launches from the riverside at The Swan at Streatley, a classic Thames-side village in the Goring Gap between Reading and Oxford. The wide, calm reach here is well suited to self-guided paddling, with gentle flow and beautiful views along the Berkshire and Oxfordshire banks.
Streatley is easy to reach from the High Street with parking nearby, and makes a relaxed base for a morning or afternoon on the water. Route ideas can be shared at collection so you can plan a scenic out-and-back paddle without needing prior local knowledge.
You should be comfortable in the water, able to swim 25 metres, and confident following the safety briefing before heading out independently. Prior paddleboarding experience is helpful but not essential for calm-weather hires on this sheltered stretch.
Children under 8 may share a board with a parent or carer. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a full paying adult. Please declare medical conditions on the waiver so staff can confirm buoyancy aid fit and suitability.
All hire kit is premium quality and maintained for reliability, so you spend less time wrestling with equipment and more time enjoying the river. A team member runs through setup, leash use and local guidance before you launch.
Whether you want a short taster paddle or a full day exploring the Thames, flexible hire lengths and straightforward collection at Streatley make it easy to fit paddling into your plans without bringing your own gear.
Hire options at Streatley include a two-hour slot, a half-day hire of around four hours, and a full-day hire of up to ten hours. All durations include board, paddle, leash and buoyancy aid.
Choose the length that suits your plans when you book. Staff can suggest a realistic route for your hire window when you collect your kit.
Each hire includes a premium paddleboard, paddle, leash and buoyancy aid, plus a safety briefing and help with basic setup before you launch from the Streatley riverside base.
Guided coaching is not included. If you are completely new to paddleboarding, a lesson booking may be a better fit before hiring independently.
Hire is available at The Swan at Streatley on the River Thames. This initial Adventuro listing covers the Streatley base only, where the team has the resources to run hires smoothly.
Collect your kit at the agreed meeting point on the High Street and return it at the end of your slot. Staff will confirm launch and recovery areas during your briefing.
Children aged 8 and over may hire their own board when a buoyancy aid fits safely. Younger children may share a board with a parent or carer. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a full paying adult.
All hirers must swim 25 metres and be comfortable in the water. Medical conditions should be declared on the waiver before kit is issued.
Wear quick-dry clothing or swimwear you are happy to get wet, secure footwear for launching, and bring a towel and sun protection. A dry bag for valuables is recommended.
You do not need your own paddle or board. If the weather is cool, ask about wetsuit hire in advance.
Hires may be postponed if river conditions are unsafe due to strong wind, high flow or storms. The team will contact you to reschedule or offer credit when possible.
Light rain alone rarely stops hires, but the final decision rests with staff on the day. Never head out if you have not received a safety briefing for that session.
Yes, subject to availability. Contact the team for group or event hires above ten boards or if you need multiple boards for the same time slot.
Each participant should complete a waiver. Under-18s must be accompanied by a paying adult on the water.
Yes, though some prior paddling experience is helpful for independent hire on the river. Staff cover leash use, kneeling and standing basics, and local safety notes before you launch.
If you have never stood on a board before, booking a lesson first will build confidence and technique before hiring on your own.
Yes. Every hirer receives a land-based briefing covering buoyancy aid fit, leash attachment, basic paddle technique and local river guidance before equipment is issued.
Staff will point out launch and recovery areas and answer questions about conditions on the day. Do not head onto the water until this briefing is complete.
The calm reach in front of The Swan is ideal for gentle out-and-back paddles along the Goring Gap. Staff can suggest scenic sections suited to your ability and the conditions on the day.
Stay within the area discussed at your briefing and follow any local guidance about flow, other river users and where to land. The Thames Path and riverside pubs make it easy to plan a relaxed outing.
