Curious about stand-up paddleboarding, or comparing boards before you buy? This short demo lets you try Red Paddle Co boards on the water with guidance nearby, so you can feel the difference for yourself without committing to a full lesson or long hire.
You start with a brief safety chat covering leash use, how to remount if you fall, and how to move between boards safely at the shore. Soft-soled shoes help you step on and off cleanly so more of the half hour is spent paddling rather than adjusting kit.
On the water you try boards from the Red Paddle Co demo fleet, focusing on how each one feels underfoot for balance, glide, and turning. The session is short and practical rather than a full lesson plan, with guidance close by if you want a quick tip while you compare options.
If you go on to buy a board after the demo, the demo fee is credited against the purchase. Exact board availability depends on the day, so arrive ready to paddle and ready to compare a few models within the booked window.
Sessions are based in Callander, with easy access to sheltered water suited to trying boards in controlled conditions. The surrounding Trossachs lochs and forested shores give a true feel for how you might use a board locally.
Meeting details are confirmed with your booking. Parking is available in and around Callander; allow a little extra time in busy summer periods.
Everyone taking part needs to be able to swim. Soft-soled shoes and clothes you are happy to get wet make the session more comfortable. Bring photo ID if requested at check-in.
Younger paddlers should come with a responsible adult. Arrive ready to move between boards quickly so you can make the most of the 30-minute window.
This is a dedicated demo format rather than a long hire or full lesson, so you can focus on board feel and fit. Local instructors know the water and can help you compare options quickly within the half-hour window.
When you buy after the demo, the fee is credited against the purchase, which makes it a practical try-before-you-buy step before choosing a board for Trossachs paddling.
No. The demo is a short try-before-you-buy session focused on feeling different boards on the water. You get a safety briefing and time paddling, but it is not a structured skills course.
If you want technique coaching from the basics upward, book an intro or private lesson instead. Those sessions spend longer on stance, strokes, and confidence building.
The booked session is 30 minutes. That usually includes a quick briefing plus time trying boards from the demo fleet.
Arrive a little early so check-in does not eat into your water time. Soft-soled shoes and clothes you can get wet help you start promptly.
No experience is required. Demos suit people who have never stood on a board as well as paddlers comparing models before buying.
Expect calm, controlled conditions where possible. Instructors stay close enough to help with basic balance tips while you assess the boards.
All ages are welcome when participants can swim confidently. Younger paddlers should come with a responsible adult who can help on the day.
If you are booking for a mixed family group, mention ages when you book so the right boards and buoyancy aids are ready.
Wear clothes you are happy to get wet, ideally quick-drying layers. Soft-soled trainers or water shoes grip better than flip-flops and protect your feet at the shore.
Bring a towel and a change of clothes. In cooler weather, gloves, a hat, and a warmer base layer make a big difference for a short session.
Wind and water conditions are checked carefully. Light rain is often fine, but strong wind or unsafe loch conditions can mean a rearrange or a change of launch point.
If the demo cannot run safely you will be contacted with options. Safety comes first on open water in the Trossachs.
Yes. When you complete the demo and then go on to purchase a board, the demo fee is credited against that purchase.
Ask the team on the day which boards and packages the credit applies to, as stock and models can change through the season. Confirm any amount details in the booking calendar or with the team before you decide.
Where the schedule and fleet allow, you can compare boards within the 30-minute window. The aim is to help you feel differences in stability, length, and paddling comfort.
If you want more time refining technique after choosing a board style, follow up with an intro session or private coaching.
Meeting is based around the Callander shop area at 6 Leny Road, FK17 8BA, unless you are told otherwise for water conditions.
You will receive confirmation with your booking. Parking is available nearby; in peak season allow a few extra minutes to arrive ready to paddle.
Bring photo ID if requested, soft-soled shoes, a towel, and a bottle of water. A waterproof phone case is useful if you want photos, though it is not required for the demo itself.
Leave valuables you do not need on the shore. Keep the kit list light so you can move between boards without fuss.
