Experience Gozo and Comino in a single full-day programme that combines an afternoon coastal cruise with a guided sunset quad bike route across Gozo. This eight-hour experience blends scenic sightseeing with steady off-road driving, offering varied terrain and standout views at a comfortable, moderate pace. Guests can drive solo or with a passenger seated behind, following experienced tour leaders across rural tracks, bays, and cliff edges.
The timing of the tour makes use of late-day light and sunset colours, giving Gozo a different atmosphere compared with standard daytime excursions. With easy coordination, transfers, packed meals, and all equipment included, this is designed as a seamless outdoor day from start to finish.
Your experience begins with an afternoon pick-up from your accommodation or nearest designated location. After arriving at the departure point, you board a private boat heading towards Comino. The cruise circles the island’s coastline and passes the Blue Lagoon, Crystal Lagoon, and sea caves, with explanations of the key features along the way. In summer, and only if conditions are suitable, the boat stops for a swim of around 45 minutes in one of the lagoons.
After the cruise, the boat continues to Gozo, where the quad bike phase begins. A safety briefing and short vehicle orientation prepare you for the self-drive section, which follows a convoy led by an experienced guide. The route includes Ta’ Ċenċ Cliffs, Dwejra, Għasri Valley, the salt pans at Xwejni, and several coastal viewpoints. Some stops are quick pass-throughs, while others include time for photos and exploring short walking sections.
As daylight fades, you continue towards a selected sunset viewpoint chosen for visibility and weather conditions. The packed meal is provided outdoors, allowing you to enjoy the evening light without interrupting the schedule with indoor dining. After sunset, the convoy makes its way back to the departure point, where you board either a private boat or the Gozo Channel Ferry depending on conditions. Transfer vehicles then return you to your original pick-up location.
The experience takes place across Comino and Gozo, with maritime transfers connecting the route. The Comino portion offers coastal views, sheltered inlets, and access to lagoons known for clear water and distinct limestone formations. All sea elements depend on weather and sea state, with alternatives provided when necessary.
Gozo’s quad bike route spans southern cliffs, rural interior roads, and northern salt pan areas, offering a good mix of viewpoints, geological features, and accessible routes. Terrain varies from paved rural lanes to compact dirt tracks suitable for entry-level off-road riding. The sunset viewpoint is typically positioned for wide coastal visibility and clear western horizons.
Drivers must be at least 21 and present an original driving licence on the day of the tour. Digital copies, expired licences, or provisional documents are not accepted. Passengers must meet the minimum height requirement of 60 cm and be comfortable riding on the rear seat. All guests sign an indemnity form and complete a quad bike inspection form before departure.
This activity is not suitable for pregnant guests, those with back or heart conditions, or anyone with mobility restrictions. Guests should bring closed shoes, swimwear, a towel, and sunscreen. A credit card is required for insurance excess cover or potential traffic fines. The tour operates as a controlled convoy and all participants must follow the tour leader.
This experience offers strong variety by combining two islands, mixed terrain, and a sunset element, making it one of the most comprehensive day tours available for visitors who enjoy active exploration. The quad bike route is designed to be accessible, with steady convoy management and a balanced pace suitable for riders with limited off-road experience.
Transfers, equipment, and meals are included to keep the logistics simple, and the sunset component provides excellent photography opportunities without requiring additional scheduling. The combination of water, land, and evening light creates a memorable and complete outdoor day across Malta’s northern islands.
The route is classed as moderate because it includes a mix of paved rural roads and compacted dirt tracks. While the terrain is accessible for beginners, drivers must remain attentive throughout the tour, particularly during bends, uneven surfaces, or coastal paths.
Passengers should expect vibration and exposure to dust or wind, which is normal for this style of vehicle. The tour includes several stops to break up the driving and to allow for photos, rest, and explanations from the leader.
If the private crossing cannot run due to wind, waves, or operational constraints, the itinerary continues using the Gozo Channel Ferry instead. Ferry tickets are included, so no additional payment is required.
If sea conditions prevent the Comino cruise, the entire experience is conducted on Gozo without a refund, as the full land tour still proceeds. Weather adjustments are made to ensure safety while keeping the experience as close to the original plan as possible.
