Children will have their first experience of breathing underwater in a safe, supervised pool environment. This session introduces essential diving skills and water confidence through guided exercises and playful activities. It’s designed to make learning enjoyable while laying a foundation for future scuba training.
The session begins with an engaging briefing covering equipment familiarisation and safety rules. Children learn how each piece of scuba gear works and how to use it properly. The instructor demonstrates basic skills on the poolside before children enter the water.
Once in the pool, participants practise breathing through the regulator and adjusting their buoyancy. Exercises include simple underwater navigation, holding positions, and using hand signals to communicate with the instructor and peers. These activities are structured to build confidence gradually.
Later, children take part in playful challenges that reinforce skills, such as retrieving objects from the pool floor or swimming short distances using fins. The instructor provides continuous guidance and encouragement, ensuring every child progresses at their own pace. By the end, participants will have experienced safe underwater breathing, movement, and communication techniques.
The pool session is held at Elsdon Avenue in Seaton Delaval, Whitley Bay. Its heated indoor pool provides calm, controlled conditions ideal for first-time divers. Visibility and temperature are maintained to ensure comfort while learning.
The surrounding area allows easy access for families and offers a welcoming environment for young learners. The location is supported by trained instructors who focus on safety, enjoyment, and skill-building for all participants.
No prior diving experience is required. Participants should be confident in the water, able to swim short distances, and comfortable wearing swimwear. Parental consent is required for children under 18.
Participants will be guided gradually through all exercises, with support available for those less confident in the water. The session is designed to be both educational and enjoyable, ensuring all children feel safe and engaged throughout.
The centre provides high-quality, child-focused diving experiences with small group sizes for personalised instruction. Instructors are experienced in teaching young learners and create a fun, safe environment while ensuring skill development.
Facilities include a heated pool and structured learning space, giving children access to ideal conditions for first-time diving. With expert guidance, children build confidence, water skills, and an interest in diving that can continue into future courses.
