The RYA Powerboat Level 2 course is a two-day course that runs from approximately 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM each day. It includes both classroom theory and hands-on practical sessions on the water.
The course is divided into practical and theory sessions. You will spend time learning to handle the boat at both low and high speeds, practicing manoeuvres in the marina, and going out into open water for high-speed exercises. There is also a theory session covering passage planning, navigation, tides, and safety protocols.
The course is open to adults and children aged 14+. For those under 18, parental consent is required. It’s a great course for families or individuals looking to improve their boating skills and earn a recognised certification.
You will automatically qualify to apply for the ICC once you successfully complete the RYA Powerboat Level 2 course. However, the ICC itself is not automatically issued—you will need to apply through the RYA and provide a passport photo and your RYA Powerboat Level 2 certificate.
