Take your sailing to the next level with the RYA Performance Sailing course, designed for sailors looking to improve their skills in all wind conditions. This course focuses on enhancing your performance while sailing dinghies, with specific emphasis on improving technique, speed, and control. Over two days, you'll receive expert coaching from advanced instructors, offering both on-water training and constructive feedback to boost your confidence and efficiency.
Throughout the two-day course, you will work with advanced instructors who will provide personalised coaching to improve your sailing performance. The course focuses on enhancing your skills across all points of sail, primarily in two-person boats. You will learn how to hike effectively, harness the trapeze (if available), and refine your spinnaker techniques to optimise boat speed in all conditions.
Your instructors will offer continuous feedback both on and off the water, allowing you to make real-time adjustments to your sailing technique. The emphasis is on helping you develop a deeper understanding of how to sail your dinghy to its maximum potential, ensuring that you can sail efficiently and confidently, no matter the wind conditions. By the end of the course, you’ll have improved your ability to sail faster, more efficiently, and with greater confidence.
The course takes place at a sailing centre in Perry, near Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire. The location is ideal for this type of training, offering consistent wind conditions and a safe, spacious water area.
It provides an excellent environment for learning performance sailing, with experienced instructors guiding you every step of the way.
To join this course, participants must have sailing skills at the standard of RYA Level 3 Better Sailing or Stage 4. You should already be confident with basic sailing techniques, including boat handling in a variety of conditions.
