Enhance your sailing expertise with this two-day RYA Dinghy Sailing with Spinnakers course, designed for those who are already familiar with basic sailing techniques. This course will introduce you to the exciting world of spinnaker sailing, where you will learn to rig, hoist, gybe, and drop/recover both conventional and asymmetric spinnakers. By the end of the course, you’ll be equipped with the skills to sail the best possible course downwind, improving your performance on the water.
This practical, hands-on course will teach you the fundamental aspects of spinnaker sailing. You will start by learning to rig the boat and hoist a spinnaker, then progress to more complex techniques like gybing and recovering the spinnaker in various conditions. Your instructors will demonstrate how to control the spinnaker to achieve the best downwind course and maximise boat speed. Throughout the course, you'll have the chance to apply your skills in real-time scenarios, gaining valuable experience on the water.
Over the two days, you’ll receive personalised coaching to help you refine your technique and boost your confidence when using a spinnaker. The course is designed to be informative yet fun, with plenty of opportunity for practice and feedback from your instructor.
The course is run at a well-established sailing centre in Perry, just outside Huntingdon in Cambridgeshire. The site offers a large, safe water area with consistent wind patterns, ideal for mastering spinnaker sailing.
