You take the wheel of a 4x4 on Dubai dunes for 45 to 60 minutes after a marshal briefs you beside the vehicle. The transfer from your hotel, the convoy on the sand, refreshments and a snack box are all part of the outing, and the same vehicle brings you back.
We'll transfer you from your Dubai hotel to the desert camp, which takes about an hour from the city. When you arrive, a marshal will assign your exclusive or shared 4WD, check your licence at the desk, and talk you through the convoy rules before anyone drives onto the dunes.
You'll follow the marshal on marked sand in your own vehicle, then hand the keys back at camp for refreshments before we drive you home. Shared and exclusive convoys are confirmed when you book, and if the sand is closed for weather we'll call you rather than leave you waiting in the lobby.
Your self-drive 4x4 session runs on marked dunes in the Dubai desert, on ground set aside for guest drivers after the marshal brief. You are on open sand with a convoy lead, not on public highways, and the base sits beyond the city where the skyline sits behind you on the return run.
Hotel transfer collects you in Dubai and brings you back after the driving time and refreshments. We send the lobby window beforehand. You need a valid licence and closed shoes; the experience does not start at a marina or an indoor venue.
Drivers need to be at least 21 and able to show photo ID and a valid driving licence. Off-road experience is not required. You should be comfortable in a manual or automatic 4x4 as assigned and able to follow the marshal's signals.
Tell us about any back or wrist concerns before the day. Driving dunes is bumpy, even in a short convoy.
Self-drive 4x4 days put you behind the wheel inside a marshalled convoy after licence check and a desert brief. Hotel transfer, driving time on the dunes, and refreshments at camp sit on one timetable, with the same vehicle home after you hand back the keys.
Shared and exclusive convoys are confirmed at booking so the marshal knows your group size. We run these mornings with safety briefings and a lead vehicle, not unguided hire on open sand.
We collect you from your Dubai hotel. Be in the lobby at the time we send you. The same transfer brings you back after the snack stop. Do not travel to the Sharjah office.
We collect you from your Dubai hotel. The lobby window is sent to you beforehand, because the drive to the desert camp takes about an hour and the marshal briefing starts as a group.
Be downstairs on time. A late pickup can shorten the 45 to 60 minutes you get behind the wheel.
Yes. Hotel transfers in Dubai are part of the outing, and the same vehicle brings you back after the snack box.
If you are staying outside the usual pickup area, tell us the hotel so we can confirm the collection still works for the camp start.
The outing lasts about four hours from lobby to lobby. That includes the drive out of the city, the brief, 45 to 60 minutes driving the 4x4 yourself, a snack stop, and the return.
Time behind the wheel is the 45 to 60 minutes after the brief, not the whole four hours.
Drivers need to be at least 21 years old. Bring photo ID and a valid driving licence that matches the name we have for you.
The camp can refuse a driver who cannot show they meet the age rule or who cannot handle the vehicle after the first minutes of the brief.
You can have a 4x4 to yourself or share one. We tell you beforehand which one you have, so you know whether anyone else is riding in the same vehicle on the sand.
Groups stay at a maximum of six. You drive in a convoy with a marshal, not as a loose pair on the dunes.
You should already hold a driving licence. Off-road experience is not required. The marshal briefs you beside the vehicle, talks you through the line, then leads the convoy.
If you cannot handle the sand after the first minutes, tell the marshal. They would rather hold you than send you over a dune you cannot read.
Refreshments and a snack box are part of the outing. This is a picnic-style stop after you park, not a sit-down restaurant meal in the desert.
Eat a proper breakfast before pickup if you want more than a snack. Bring a small bottle of water for the drive if you like to have your own.
We recommend wearing closed shoes, long trousers you do not mind getting sandy, and a light long-sleeve layer. Bring sun protection and your licence in a zip pocket.
We'd suggest leaving loose scarves in the transfer. The camp will talk you through the vehicle before you leave the hard standing.
The ride needs sand the marshal can read and weather the camp will accept. A sandstorm or a closed desert can delay or stop the convoy.
If the camp cannot run the vehicles, we will contact you with the next step. That call sits with the marshal on the day.
Raise a hand during the convoy and the marshal will adjust the pace. You stay in the line rather than peeling off on your own, so the group can still see you.
If you cannot handle the sand after the first minutes, tell them on the hard standing. They would rather you sit a run out than send you over a dune you cannot read.
