Climbing session focused on reviewing outdoor performance in a real rock environment with structured coaching throughout. Built around your chosen discipline and current ability, it helps highlight strengths and identify clear areas for improvement. Guidance is delivered during climbing to support better movement, decision making and overall efficiency on rock.
Morning begins with a short discussion to outline experience, goals and the specific style of outdoor climbing being focused on. Direction is then set for the day so coaching stays relevant and targeted to individual needs.
Climbing takes place on real rock across the day, with observation and feedback given throughout. Adjustments are made in real time to help refine movement, pacing and route strategy. Techniques are tested immediately so improvements can be understood as they happen rather than after the fact.
Afternoon is used to reinforce key learning points and apply them in a more independent way with reduced input. The day ends with a clear summary of development areas and practical next steps to continue progression outdoors.
Outdoor coaching is based in the Peak District or suitable climbing areas within the West Midlands. Common Peak District venues include The Roaches and Stanage Edge, selected based on conditions and the focus of the session.
Location choice is guided by climbing objectives and weather conditions to ensure appropriate terrain is used throughout the day. Travel outside standard areas may involve an additional charge depending on distance.
No minimum climbing level is required, making the session suitable for both new and experienced climbers. Coaching is adjusted throughout to match ability and ensure appropriate challenge.
For anyone under 18, an adult must be present for the full duration of the session. This ensures proper supervision and support throughout outdoor activity.
Coaching is delivered by an experienced, qualified climbing coach with over 10 years working across a wide range of abilities. The focus is on clear, practical feedback that directly improves outdoor performance.
Sessions are kept small and personal, allowing coaching to be fully tailored to each climber. This ensures attention is placed on the areas that make the most noticeable difference to progress.
Outdoor sessions will always go ahead where conditions are safe and suitable, as weather can often change quickly. A decision will be made as close to the session as possible to give the best chance of running the day as planned.
If conditions are not suitable and the session needs to be cancelled, you will be offered an alternative date at no extra cost. The aim is to make sure you still get the full experience without losing your booking.
All coaching sessions and courses are open to climbers of every ability, from complete beginners to those with more experience. Each session is adapted to suit your level, so you can progress at a pace that feels right for you.
If you are unsure whether a session is suitable, you can always ask in advance. Guidance can be given to help you choose the right option based on your current experience and goals.
All essential equipment can be provided, so you don’t need to worry about bringing your own gear if you’re new or don’t have access to it. Everything supplied will be suitable for the session and properly maintained.
