Experience bouldering on real rock with a full day in the Peak District focused on movement, technique and problem solving. Ideal for beginners and indoor climbers looking to take things outside, the session builds confidence in a supportive setting. With a dedicated instructor, everything is tailored to your group and how you progress.
After a short briefing, attention turns to safety and how outdoor bouldering works, including mat placement and spotting techniques. This sets a solid foundation before getting onto the rock and starting to climb.
Time is then spent working through a range of boulder problems suited to your level. Coaching focuses on improving movement, using your feet effectively and adjusting body position to stay balanced. Different styles of climbing are introduced across the day, helping you adapt to varied rock features.
Later in the session, you’ll begin to apply these skills more independently while still receiving guidance where needed. You’ll also look at how to use guidebooks, understand grading systems and follow good practice at the crag, giving you the knowledge to continue bouldering outdoors with confidence.
A selection of Peak District bouldering areas are used, chosen based on conditions and what best suits the group. These venues offer a variety of rock types and styles, allowing for a well-rounded experience across the day.
Careful selection ensures a safe and enjoyable environment, with access to a range of problems that support progression. Final meeting details are confirmed ahead of the session.
Open to all abilities, including complete beginners and those with indoor bouldering experience. The session is adapted to suit your level, so you can develop skills at a comfortable pace.
Participants should be prepared for a full day outdoors and happy taking part in physical activity. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult throughout the session.
More than 10 years of coaching experience supports a clear and practical approach to developing outdoor bouldering skills. Guidance is focused on helping you understand movement and build confidence step by step.
Small group sizes allow for a more personal experience, with plenty of time for individual feedback. Sessions are shaped around your group, keeping the day flexible and focused on making steady progress.
Outdoor sessions will always go ahead where conditions are safe and suitable, as weather can often change quickly. A decision will be made as close to the session as possible to give the best chance of running the day as planned.
If conditions are not suitable and the session needs to be cancelled, you will be offered an alternative date at no extra cost. The aim is to make sure you still get the full experience without losing your booking.
All coaching sessions and courses are open to climbers of every ability, from complete beginners to those with more experience. Each session is adapted to suit your level, so you can progress at a pace that feels right for you.
If you are unsure whether a session is suitable, you can always ask in advance. Guidance can be given to help you choose the right option based on your current experience and goals.
All essential equipment can be provided, so you don’t need to worry about bringing your own gear if you’re new or don’t have access to it. Everything supplied will be suitable for the session and properly maintained.
If you do have your own equipment, you are welcome to use it. This can be helpful if you are already familiar with your gear and want to continue using it during your session.
Outdoor sessions are typically run in the Peak District, offering a range of locations suited to different abilities and types of climbing. Specific venues are chosen based on the goals of the session and current conditions.
There is no strict minimum age for sessions, making them accessible to a wide range of participants. Each booking is considered on an individual basis to ensure the experience is suitable and enjoyable.
For anyone under the age of 18, an adult must be present throughout the session. This helps provide support, supervision, and a safe environment for younger climbers.
Bookings are set up mainly as private experiences for groups of up to six people. This allows the day to be shaped around your group and gives more flexibility with pacing and coaching.
If you’re looking to join others, open group sessions may be possible. You can get in touch to check if any shared dates are available.
No previous experience is required, and beginners are welcome. Everything is introduced clearly, including movement, safety and how to approach problems.
