Step away from the screen and into the sea with our open group coasteering session at Mousehole Harbour. This shared experience is packed with high-energy adventure, from cliff jumps and sea swims to exploring caves and natural gullies—all guided by experienced instructors. Whether you're joining solo or with friends, it's a brilliant way to meet like-minded people and enjoy the coastline in a safe and supportive setting. Free photography is included so you can relive the best bits after your wetsuit comes off.
Once you arrive at Mousehole Harbour, your guide will meet you for introductions, a safety briefing, and gear fitting. You’ll be kitted out with a full-length winter wetsuit, helmet, and buoyancy aid before heading to the launch point for your session. The exact route may vary slightly depending on sea conditions and tide, but always delivers a mix of jumping, swimming, climbing, and exploring.
In the water, you’ll move as a group through natural sea gullies, climb across coastal features, and drop into plunge pools. Along the way, you’ll discover caves, bouldering spots and sheltered areas perfect for floating or just taking in the environment. Some routes even offer snorkelling and the occasional encounter with curious marine wildlife, including seals. Every element is optional, and the pace is adjusted to suit the group, making it fun and accessible whether it’s your first time or you’re returning for more.
The session is based in Mousehole, just a short drive from Penzance in West Cornwall (postcode TR19 6RT). This sheltered fishing village offers one of the most accessible and well-suited coasteering spots in the region. The surrounding coastline is packed with rocky ledges, tidal gullies, swim-throughs and natural jump spots that suit a wide range of abilities.
The route is adjusted based on sea conditions to keep the session safe and enjoyable, with several variations available if needed. Public toilets, local cafés, and parking are all within walking distance, making it easy to plan around your time on the water.
All participants must be comfortable swimming at least 50 metres unaided. This session involves physical activity in open water and is best suited to those with a basic level of fitness. Aged 10 and above, under-18s may attend without a parent present as long as a consent form is provided in advance.
You’ll need to bring swimwear, suitable footwear (trainers or proper wetsuit boots), a towel or changing robe, shorts to wear over your wetsuit, and any personal medication. Glasses and jewellery cannot be worn during the session for safety reasons.
With over two decades of delivering professional coasteering adventures, the centre has built a reputation for safety, adaptability, and fun. Every instructor is highly qualified and chosen not just for their technical skills, but their ability to lead exciting, inclusive sessions for all ages and experience levels.
Whether it’s your first time trying coasteering or you’re coming back for more, the team makes sure each session is enjoyable, confidence-boosting, and full of memorable moments.
You’ll need to bring swimwear to wear underneath your wetsuit, trainers or wetsuit boots (essential for the rocky terrain), and a towel or changing robe for before and after the session.
We also recommend bringing shorts to wear over the wetsuit to protect it from sharp rocks. If you have your own wetsuit, feel free to bring it as long as it’s a full-length warm suit. Personal medication can also be brought along if needed.
Although no experience is required, you will need to be able to swim at least 50 metres unaided. The session involves sea swimming, cliff jumping, and exploring the coastline, so a basic level of swimming ability is important for your safety.
All participants will wear buoyancy aids, which provide additional support in the water.
Yes, absolutely! The session is designed for all experience levels, and we adjust the challenges based on your group's abilities. Our guides are experienced at working with first-time coasteerers, ensuring the experience is both safe and enjoyable.
Some activities, like cliff jumping and swimming through gullies, are optional, so you can take things at your own pace.
If the weather or sea conditions make the planned route unsafe, the guide will choose an alternative nearby route that still offers a fun and exciting experience.
Safety is our top priority, and our guides are highly skilled at adapting to changing conditions to ensure the session remains enjoyable and safe.
For safety reasons, we do not allow glasses or jewellery to be worn while coasteering. This includes rings, necklaces, bracelets, and hoop earrings. If you wear prescription glasses, we recommend using contact lenses, though prescription goggles are also acceptable.
All valuables can be stored safely before you go into the water.
The total session time is up to 3 hours, which includes time for arrival, safety briefings, and changing before and after the activity.
The actual coasteering experience typically lasts around 2 hours, with the remaining time allocated for getting geared up, learning safety instructions, and a post-adventure debrief.
Our youngest age for a Group Coasteering Adventure is 10 years old.
The youngest age for a Private Coasteering Adventure is 6 years old. To go private, scroll down to see 'more courses by this centre' to book.
We believe Coasteering is one of the best activities to take part in as a family. However if you wanted to just send your children then, as we are an AALA approved centre, this is fine.

Coasterring with Lizard adventure. Great day out. Rory was great with us. Got some sea snacks along the way. Great jumps for all levels. Saw the seals. All in all a great day out
I was impressed that Steve contacted me to ask if my adolescents would like a more adventurous experience and tailored the coasteering to them. They all had a great time - came back exhilarated and exhausted. Thanks also for taking some great photos
We had a fab time with Steve guiding us. A wide range of abilities and Steve enabled us all to meet our challenges and succeed. Highly recommend this as an amazing activity. Thumbs up for Steve. Thank you.
Five stars great fun and engaging and entertaining hosting!
It was great and our guide was very enthusiastic, personable and conscientious. Thankyou!
Absolutely fabulous. Chris(?) the instructor was very knowledgeable and helpful but also definitely a ‘people person’. It was my first ever time and I loved every second of it. Will definitely do again. But wanting to make this a frequent thing for me. Sad to think it may not be…
Adam was a very knowledgeable and seemingly very experienced guide on our sea kayaking adventure from Mullion Cove. We had a great time, paddling alongside seals and in and out of caves and coves.
