Sea turtles use a designated bay off Sao Pedro, and this morning puts you in that water after hotel pickup and a short boat ride from the beach. Kit, a safety briefing and a short lesson sit at Sao Pedro if you are new to snorkelling. About an hour is spent in the bay, then drop-off is back at your accommodation.
Pickup from your accommodation in the Mindelo area comes first, then the transfer to Sao Pedro. At the beach the snorkel kit is handed out, a safety briefing runs, and first-timers learn how to snorkel. Guests who already float with a mask can move through that talk more quickly. A short boat ride then takes you to a designated bay used because sea turtles live in those waters.
About an hour is spent swimming in the bay. Wildlife still moves freely, so treat every sighting as a privilege rather than a staged show, and follow your guide on giving the animals space. After the in-water window the return is to your accommodation, so you finish at your stay rather than finding a taxi from Sao Pedro. Bring sandals, a towel, a hat, swimwear and sunscreen, as those items are not supplied with the kit.
Sao Pedro is the beach and boat start on Sao Vicente after collection from the Mindelo area. The snorkel happens in a designated bay reached by a short boat ride, used because sea turtles live in those waters.
Mindelo is the main town on Sao Vicente, so hotel pickup and drop-off keep the logistics simple if you are staying in or around the city. You stay on this island for the outing.
Children from 3 years old can join, and the session is an easy taster rather than a dive course. You should be comfortable in the sea with a mask and snorkel after a short lesson, and happy on a small boat ride to the bay.
No prior snorkel certificate is required, because the guide teaches the basics at Sao Pedro. If you cannot swim at all, tell us before you book so we can advise. Bring sandals, a towel, a hat, swimwear and sunscreen, as those items are not supplied.
Hotel pickup, the snorkel kit and the short boat ride are handled so you can focus on time in the water. The briefing at Sao Pedro is aimed at first-timers as well as guests who already know how to float with a mask. Drop-off is back at your accommodation after the hour in the bay.
The morning is built around sea turtles in their own water, with about an hour to swim rather than a rushed look. You can choose a shared morning or a private departure, and child places are available from age three.
Yes. At Sao Pedro your guide hands out the kit, gives a safety briefing and teaches you how to snorkel before the boat ride. The session is an easy taster, so first-timers are expected rather than turned away.
You should still be willing to put your face in the sea and float with a mask. If you are very nervous, say so at the briefing so the guide can spend a little longer in the shallows. There is no certificate to earn, just time in the bay.
The boat goes to a designated bay used because sea turtles live there, and the morning is built around time in that water. Wildlife still moves freely, so treat every sighting as a privilege rather than a staged show.
Your guide will brief you on how to behave around the animals, including giving them space. Follow those rules even if you are excited. About an hour in the bay gives you more chance than a five-minute stop, without turning the outing into a chase.
Children from 3 years old can join, and child rates are offered for ages 3 to 11 when you book. Adults are priced from 12 years old. The session is family-friendly as long as younger children are happy in the water with a mask.
Parents should stay close to small children on the boat and in the bay. If your child is not comfortable putting their face in the sea, this morning may feel long. Tell us about ages in the group when you reserve so the briefing can match the party.
Yes. The morning starts with pickup from your accommodation and ends with drop-off back at your stay. You do not need to make your own way to Sao Pedro or find a taxi after the snorkel.
Share your hotel or address in the Mindelo area when you book. Flights and inter-island travel to your hotel on Sao Vicente are not included. Arrive on the island before the morning departure.
About one hour is spent swimming and snorkelling in the designated bay. Pickup, the transfer to Sao Pedro, the briefing and the short boat ride sit around that in-water time, so the whole morning is longer than sixty minutes on a clock.
The booked duration on the product is one hour, which refers to the snorkel window. Do not plan a tight flight straight after pickup. We will confirm the morning collection time on your booking.
Bring sandals or flip-flops, a towel, a hat, swimwear and sunscreen. Those items are listed as your responsibility and are not handed out with the snorkel kit.
The kit at Sao Pedro covers the snorkel equipment for the bay. Leave valuables you do not want near salt water at the hotel when you can. A dry bag is useful if you already own one, though it is not required.
The product allows groups from one to 50 guests, and you can book a shared group departure or a private tour when you reserve. Shared mornings can feel busier at the briefing and on the boat.
If you want fewer people in the water, look at the private option at checkout. Solo travellers and families are both welcome. The guide still runs a safety briefing either way before you leave Sao Pedro.
Snorkelling and the short boat ride need good conditions. If wind or swell makes the bay unsafe, we will contact you rather than launching for the sake of it.
A weather call can come the same morning, so keep your phone on after pickup is arranged. If we have to stop the outing, we will explain the next step rather than leaving you waiting at Sao Pedro.
Sao Pedro is the beach and boat start on Sao Vicente after hotel pickup from the Mindelo area. The snorkel bay is a short boat ride from there, not a pool at the hotel.
You stay on Sao Vicente for the whole morning. Inter-island travel to your hotel is not included. Mindelo is the town we use for the meeting-area pin, because that is where most stays are collected.
No. This is a snorkel taster with kit, a briefing and about an hour in a bay, not a scuba course and not a certification. You stay on the surface with a mask and snorkel.
If you already dive, you still use snorkel kit on this product. There is no tank or dive briefing. Guests who only want to swim with a mask and see sea turtles are the intended audience.
Cancel 2 days or less before the turtle snorkel and we charge a 100% cancellation fee. The fee is 50% if you cancel 6 days or less before, and 0% if you cancel up to 1000 days before the event.
Write to us as soon as plans change if you need another Mindelo pickup morning, and we will check whether a later Sao Pedro departure still has space.
