Our level 3 course offers an intensive exploration of sea kayaking skills amidst the gorgeous coastal landscapes of Dartmouth, Devon. Designed for paddlers looking to enhance their expertise, this course blends comprehensive training with adventurous expeditions, promising an enriching experience in one of the UK's premier sea kayaking destinations.
Our courses run from 9:30 to 16:30 each day, focusing on a dynamic blend of skill development and exploration. Each session is tailored to maximise learning and enjoyment, starting with personal paddling skills and stroke development.
You'll progress to mastering comprehensive rescue and emergency procedures essential for safe sea kayaking. Our experienced instructors will guide you through advanced tidal planning and navigation techniques, ensuring you gain confidence and proficiency in handling sea kayaks in diverse coastal conditions.
Throughout the course, you'll have the opportunity to explore hidden coves, navigate around rocky headlands, and discover fascinating sea caves that dot the rugged coastline of Dartmouth. Our emphasis is on practical learning in real-world environments, making each day a new adventure on the water.
Located in Dartmouth, Devon, our centre provides access to diverse coastal terrains ideal for sea kayaking, including secluded coves, dramatic cliffs, and abundant marine wildlife habitats.
Participants should have regular experience in sea kayaking, either independently or with a local club, and possess solid roll or self-rescue skills to ensure safety in open water conditions.
Founded in 2011 by Ben, our centre has grown to become a hub for sea kayaking enthusiasts seeking expert guidance and memorable experiences. Situated in Dartmouth, we offer a team of over 15 top coaches with extensive local knowledge and a fleet of 40+ stable sea kayaks for optimal comfort and control.
Whether you're refining your skills or starting a new adventure, our courses are designed to build confidence, foster skill progression, and provide unforgettable explorations of Devon's amazing coastline.
Our Level 3 Course is designed for paddlers with some experience in sea kayaking. You should ideally have regular paddling experience, either independently or with a local club.
It's essential to possess solid roll or self-rescue skills to ensure safety in open water conditions. This course is perfect if you're looking to refine your techniques and deepen your understanding of sea kayaking in challenging coastal environments.
While we don't offer on-site accommodation, Dartmouth has a variety of lodging choices nearby, from hotels to guesthouses and self-catering apartments.

A choice of over 40 Sea Kayak’s by P & H, VALLEY, NORTH SHORE, DAGGER, VENTURE, WILDERNESS SYSTEM, WAVESPORT and PERCEPTION.
We also have a large range of Paddles, Buoyancy aids, Cags, Spraydecks, Charts, VHF Radios, Sea Kayak Guides and a range of personal safety equipment for you to try out.
Our waterfront location is 100m from the slipway and we have toilets and secure storage facilities here. For chart work on wild winter days, we have a large comfortable classroom 100m from the kayak base.
Included with all of our courses is the internationally recognised Paddle UK (formerly British Canoeing) Paddle Start Certificate.

Level 1 – Ideally suited to complete beginners, people who have never been in a kayak, but who want a fun experience and to learn the basic skills necessary to enjoy being on the water.
Level 2 – This is by far our most popular course. It is designed as a springboard for people who are keen to learn the skills that will help them start to plan their own kayak trips. Our World-Class Sea Kayak Destination makes each day of the course a unique and memorable experience
Level 3 – This course is aimed at keen Sea Paddlers who understand the fundamentals, and want to take their skills to the next level. Ideally they should be paddling regularly with a club and have some self rescue technique’s or a good roll.
Level 4 - You should be an active and experienced sea paddler; over the years you should have undertaken some longer and more challenging expeditions. You should already have the ability to be an active part of the group and know how to help others if they get into difficulty.
Our standard 2-day courses is packed full of information and top coaching that will help you learn new skills and gain knowledge. You will get to enjoy the classic Sea Kayaking on offer around Dartmouth.
On our 5-day courses, you will do a deep dive into the world of Sea Kayaking. You will get to plan trips and launch from a variety of remote locations. Every day is a unique experience that you will remember for years to come.

We had a great time. The instructor made us feel constantly reassured that we were in good hands. He was also really knowledgeable about the area and able to introduce us to great opportunities to explore various caves and coves during our training.
