Our 9 year old had a fab time with her two instructors and was able to stand and surf by the end of one lesson!

Saturday morning, Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning give the coach time to see how you actually surf, not just how you look on the first wave. Each session is two hours on Harlyn Bay, with a board, wetsuit and the same beach. First-timers and people who already stand both take this weekend, from age 12.
Saturday morning is foundations: brief, paddling, pop-up, then white water. Saturday afternoon builds on what stuck. Sunday morning is for cleaning up stance, wave choice and, if you are ready, a look at unbroken waves. The coach changes the drills rather than repeating a first-lesson script three times.
Please arrive 15 minutes early for each session. You go home at night; this is not a stay-over. If you want more water on Sunday afternoon, you can hire a board after the morning session.
Harlyn Bay sits a short drive from Padstow, with shallow sand that suits a weekend of lessons. The base is on the beach next to the pay-and-display car park, so you change at the same place each time.
Toilets and two food outlets sit in the car park. Lifeguards cover the bay from Easter to September. Dogs are allowed on this beach if someone in the group is staying on the sand.
No prior surfing is required. The weekend also suits people who already stand and want three sessions in a row. The minimum age is 12. Anyone under 18 needs a parent or guardian on the beach.
Bring swimwear, a towel and warm clothes for each day. Your own full-length wetsuit is fine in summer. A reasonable level of fitness helps, because three sessions in two days is more paddling than a single lesson.
Chris has taught on this bay since 1994, and the school is licensed by Cornwall Council and the Adventure Activities Licensing Service. Coaches are lifeguards as well as instructors, which matters when a weekend group stays in the water across two days of changing tide.
Three sessions on the same beach is how a first-timer still remembers Saturday's notes on Sunday. You turn up with a towel. We handle the kit and the plan.
Meet at the beach base on Harlyn Bay, PL28 8PD, next to the large pay-and-display car park, for each of the three sessions.
Please arrive 15 minutes before each start time.
Saturday morning, Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning, each two hours from the base and back. That is three sessions, not a single long day.
You go home at night. Accommodation is not included. If you want more water on Sunday afternoon, ask about hire after the morning session.
No. Plenty of people take the weekend as their first time on a board. The coach starts with paddling and the pop-up, then moves you on when that is solid.
If you already stand, say so when you book. Those sessions go on wave choice, stance and unbroken waves rather than a first-stand drill you have already done.
Twelve. Anyone under 18 needs a parent or guardian on the beach for each session, even if that adult is not in the water.
Younger children are better on the open beginner lesson or a private family booking. This weekend is built for people who can handle three sessions in two days.
The beach base on Harlyn Bay, next to the pay-and-display car park, PL28 8PD. Same place for all three sessions. Arrive 15 minutes early each time.
Leave bags in the car. We can hold keys. Toilets and two food outlets are in the car park if you want something between Saturday's two sessions.
A surfboard, a wetsuit and the safety gear for each session. You can wear your own full-length suit in summer if you prefer.
Sunday afternoon hire is not included. If you want more time after the morning session, ask at the base so we know you are staying on.
Rain alone does not stop a session. We cancel when the wind or swell makes the bay unsafe. If one of the three cannot run, we rearrange that session or offer another activity if one is free.
If you are travelling a long way, message us the day before. A weekend on this coast is still subject to the sea, even in summer.
Swimwear, a towel, warm dry clothes and sunscreen. Saturday has two sessions, so a second towel or a change of clothes helps if you are not going back to the house at lunch.
Leave phones in the car. If you need medication in the water, give it to the coach for the waterproof bag.
Between two and eight. Two is the minimum for the weekend to run. If that number is not met, we will be in touch to move you.
We keep you with the same coach where we can, because the point of a weekend is that someone remembers what you did on Saturday.
Neither. You sort your own meals and somewhere to sleep. The two food outlets in the beach car park are there between Saturday's sessions if you have not brought food.
Padstow and the villages around Harlyn have plenty of beds. Book those yourself rather than assuming the course comes with a room.
Yes, if you hire a board after the morning session. That time is unguided, so only add it if you are happy picking a peak on your own.
Ask at the base on Sunday morning rather than assuming hire is waiting. Kit goes to the open lessons first on a busy day.

We bought this for our children and their partners. Chris was absolutely brilliant with them all and they had a great time. Would definitely book again and highly recommend!
Chris the guide was absolutely lovely. Calm and supportive and judged making the adventure the right level of fun and excitement.
A great experience from start to finish. Very knowledgeable and welcoming instructors - despite being in open water, they helped with a diabetic hypo with ease and professionalism. They both helped each group member if they had fears or wanted to complete obstacle again. A really really great day, lovely…
Fantastic coasteering session with Reece Harlyne bay really enjoyed ourselves, thank you very much.
Chris was brilliant, took us through the process step by step and gave us the confidence to stand up on the board. Highly recommended

The whole booking of the introduction to Paddle boarding was really good. Apart from double booking myself, but Kat was really helpful in sorting this out. The communication was excellent and gave us clear instructions on what to wear and bring. Chris who did our session was so lovely, helpful…
