Harlyn Surf School

Based right on the sands of Harlyn Bay, this centre has been a cornerstone of watersports in North Cornwall since 1994. What started with a few surfboards and a blackboard has grown into a well-established and highly respected surf school, introducing over 120,000 people to the water over the past 30 years. Founded by Chris - local surfer, coach, and former director of the Water Skills Academy - the centre is now supported by a passionate and highly qualified team. They specialise in surfing, paddleboarding, kayaking, and bodyboarding, offering everything from beginner lessons to private coaching. The team welcomes all ages and abilities, often working with families across multiple generations. The centre is the only surf school at Harlyn Bay licensed by both Cornwall Council and the Adventure Activities Licensing Authority, ensuring the highest safety standards. All instructors are fully qualified, with backgrounds in surf coaching and lifeguard training. With access to both the surf of Harlyn Bay and calmer waters like the Camel Estuary, the team can adapt sessions to suit the weather and conditions.
