Hidden amongst the hills of Highland Perthshire, Keltneyburn Canyon is packed with waterfalls, clear pools and natural rock formations waiting to be explored. Ideal for adventurous families, groups of friends and special occasions, this guided canyoning experience combines exciting challenges with some of Scotland's most impressive scenery.
After meeting your guides in Aberfeldy, you'll be fitted with a wetsuit, buoyancy aid and helmet before receiving a comprehensive safety briefing. Once everyone is ready, you'll travel to Keltneyburn Canyon where your instructors will introduce each obstacle, demonstrate the safest techniques and help you build confidence before entering the water.
Throughout the route, you'll scramble over rocks, swim through deep pools, float along gentle sections of the canyon and slide down smooth rock chutes carved by the flowing water. The adventure also includes a range of optional jumps, from around 5 to 25 feet, allowing those looking for an extra challenge to test themselves while alternative routes are available for anyone who prefers to keep their feet closer to the ground. Every section reveals something different, from narrow gorges and cascading waterfalls to peaceful pools surrounded by woodland, making each stage of the journey feel unique.
Surrounded by woodland and rolling Highland countryside, Keltneyburn Canyon lies just outside Aberfeldy and provides one of Perthshire's best natural playgrounds for canyoning. Years of flowing water have created an exciting route filled with slides, pools and waterfalls, making it an excellent location for both first-time and returning canyoners.
Beyond the canyon, Aberfeldy is a popular base for outdoor adventures, with walking trails, rivers and scenic viewpoints all within easy reach. Whether you're visiting for the day or enjoying a longer stay, there's plenty to explore before or after your activity.
Suitable for beginners as well as those with previous canyoning experience, this adventure requires no specialist knowledge before you arrive. Participants must be at least 8 years old and should feel comfortable taking part in water-based activities.
Please bring swimwear to wear beneath your wetsuit, an old pair of trainers or shoes suitable for getting wet, a towel and warm clothes to change into afterwards. A reasonable level of fitness will help you enjoy the scrambling, swimming and climbing involved throughout the experience.
Qualified instructors lead every trip with a strong focus on safety, encouragement and enjoyment, ensuring everyone can tackle the canyon with confidence regardless of previous experience. Small group sizes allow for individual guidance while maintaining a relaxed and friendly atmosphere throughout the day.
Carefully maintained equipment, expert local knowledge and access to one of Perthshire's most exciting canyoning routes combine to create an experience that's both enjoyable and professionally delivered. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or simply trying something new, you'll leave with plenty of memorable moments.
No. Keltneyburn Canyon is suitable for complete beginners as well as those who have canyoned before. Before entering the canyon, your guides explain every obstacle, demonstrate the safest techniques and ensure everyone understands how the equipment works.
Throughout the experience, instructors remain close by to offer advice and encouragement, allowing you to progress through the canyon at a pace that suits your confidence and ability.
Not at all. While Keltneyburn is known for its exciting cliff jumps, the larger jumps are optional and your guides will usually provide alternative ways around them whenever possible.
This flexibility makes the experience suitable for mixed groups, allowing adventurous participants to tackle the higher jumps while others can still enjoy the full canyon without feeling pressured.
The canyon includes a varied mix of natural features including waterfalls, plunge pools, smooth rock slides, narrow gorges, floating sections and rocky scrambles. Each obstacle offers a different challenge, keeping the experience varied from start to finish.
Rather than following a simple walking route, you'll constantly be interacting with the landscape, making your way through the canyon using a combination of swimming, climbing and scrambling techniques.

Absolutely awesome morning out. Klaudia was a great instructor, and it was great that it was on the river with some faster flowing water.. Only remark: It could have been a bit longer (it was more 2-hours then 3-hours), it was so much fun, we wouldn't have minded it was…
So much fun! We had a fabulous day and thoroughly recommend this - thank you x
