Fed by scheduled dam releases, the River Tummel delivers one of Scotland's most exciting white water rafting experiences. Featuring fast-flowing Grade 4 rapids, technical sections and the famous Linn of Tummel double-drop waterfall, this trip is ideal for adventurous adults looking for an action-packed day on the water.
Starting at the meeting point near Pitlochry, you'll meet your qualified rafting guides before being fitted with a wetsuit, buoyancy aid, helmet and paddle. A detailed safety briefing covers paddling techniques, river commands and what to expect throughout the descent, ensuring everyone feels prepared before launching onto the water.
Once on the river, you'll work together as a team to navigate a series of powerful Grade 4 rapids, following your guide's instructions as you tackle famous features including Shark's Tooth, Zig-Zag and the spectacular Linn of Tummel double-drop waterfall. Between the more technical sections, calmer stretches provide an opportunity to catch your breath while taking in the surrounding Highland scenery before the next rapid arrives. Every descent offers a fantastic combination of teamwork, excitement and unforgettable white water action.
Flowing through the beautiful countryside surrounding Pitlochry, the River Tummel is recognised as one of Scotland's premier white water rafting rivers. Controlled dam releases provide reliable water levels during the rafting season, creating exciting conditions that attract adventure seekers from across the country.
Beyond the river, Pitlochry is one of Perthshire's most popular outdoor destinations, with woodland walks, visitor attractions and spectacular Highland scenery all within easy reach. It's the perfect location for combining rafting with a weekend exploring the region.
Suitable for adventurous beginners as well as returning rafters, no previous rafting experience is required. Participants must be at least 16 years old and weigh no more than 15 stone (95kg) for safety reasons.
Please bring swimwear to wear beneath your wetsuit, an old pair of trainers suitable for getting wet, a towel and warm clothing to change into afterwards. A reasonable level of fitness and confidence in the water will help you get the most from the experience.
Operating white water adventures across Perthshire for many years, the guiding team combines extensive river knowledge with professional safety standards to deliver exciting and well-organised rafting trips. Every guide is fully qualified and experienced in leading groups through the River Tummel's challenging rapids.
Professionally maintained equipment, carefully planned sessions and one of Scotland's most iconic rafting rivers come together to create an adventure you'll remember long after you've left the water. Whether it's your first rafting experience or you're returning for a bigger challenge, you'll be in expert hands throughout the trip.

Absolutely awesome morning out. Klaudia was a great instructor, and it was great that it was on the river with some faster flowing water.. Only remark: It could have been a bit longer (it was more 2-hours then 3-hours), it was so much fun, we wouldn't have minded it was…
So much fun! We had a fabulous day and thoroughly recommend this - thank you x
