This guided climb combines two of Ben Nevis’ most famous routes, Tower Ridge and Ledge Route, for an unforgettable mountain experience. Tower Ridge, graded as Grade III (Difficult), is a challenging and sustained ascent with technical climbing sections. Ledge Route, graded Grade II, serves as a fitting descent with its own unique challenges. These routes are celebrated for their exposure, technical difficulty, and incredible views, making this a day for experienced climbers looking to test their skills.

What to Expect
Your day begins with an early meet-up at the North Face car park. After a briefing and equipment check, you'll approach the base of Tower Ridge. The ascent involves roped climbing sections, exposed ridges, and moments that demand focus and determination.
Tower Ridge is a sustained climb that requires concentration, stamina, and confidence. You’ll face obstacles such as the infamous Tower Gap, a short but exposed crossing requiring careful footwork and steady nerves. As you ascend, you’ll enjoy incredible views of the Ben Nevis massif and the surrounding landscape (weather permitting), making the effort truly rewarding.
Once on the summit of Ben Nevis, you'll take on Ledge Route for the descent. While less technical than the ridge, it still requires careful navigation and respect for the terrain. Weather conditions or fatigue may result in an alternative descent route being chosen.
Grade Breakdown
Understanding the grades is crucial for assessing the challenge level:
- Grade I: Straightforward for experienced walkers. Hands may be used occasionally, but holds are large and exposure is minimal.
- Grade II: Requires hands for more sustained stretches. Exposure is significant, and retreat may be difficult.
- Grade III: Advanced scrambles involving sustained climbing on steep, exposed rock. Some sections may feel like moderate rock climbing. Rope protection is often necessary.
- Difficult (D): A step above Grade III with more technical climbing. Exposure is high, and climbing techniques are essential. Escape is problematic, often requiring abseils.
