Knowing how to respond in an emergency involving a child or infant can make all the difference. This 1-day course is designed to give participants the confidence and practical skills to provide first aid for younger age groups. It’s ideal for anyone working with children or wanting to build knowledge for family and community settings.
The day begins with an introduction to the responsibilities of a paediatric first aider, including assessing situations safely and prioritising treatment. Participants then move on to practical training, covering CPR and choking management for both infants and children. From the outset, the course focuses on real-life scenarios to make sure skills feel practical and usable.
As the session continues, learners gain the ability to manage external bleeding, burns, and common injuries. The training also covers how to respond to shock, bites, stings, and minor injuries. Emphasis is placed on using equipment correctly, such as paediatric first aid kits, and on understanding the importance of clear communication during emergencies.
By the end of the course, participants will have developed confidence in applying first aid to infants and children in a variety of situations. Practical exercises and scenario-based learning ensure skills are reinforced, leaving learners prepared to handle emergencies with calm and effective action.
