Your trainer will keep things interactive throughout, using real-world examples to show how these skills can save lives in the workplace and beyond.
By the end of the day, every participant will leave with a fully-accredited EFAW certificate valid for 3 years, plus free access to a yearly online refresher. Both venues are well connected by public transport and surrounded by local amenities. Whether you're coming from central Manchester or surrounding areas in the North West, you’ll find the venue accessible and convenient for a full-day session.
This session is suitable for individuals of all levels, including those with no prior First Aid experience. All instructions and activities are delivered clearly, with support from qualified trainers to ensure every attendee feels confident by the end.
Participants must be physically able to perform practical tasks such as CPR on a manikin. If you have any concerns about accessibility or mobility, just get in touch before booking.

Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) is a Level 3 qualification designed to provide the essential skills needed to handle common workplace injuries and emergencies. The course covers a broad range of situations including CPR, choking, bleeding, shock, burns, and unconsciousness. It meets the legal requirements set out by the Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981, ensuring that workplaces have trained personnel to provide immediate care.
Completing EFAW certification means you can confidently respond to injuries or sudden illnesses at work until professional medical help arrives. The qualification is valid for three years, after which a refresher course is recommended to maintain competence and confidence.
This course is ideal for anyone responsible for First Aid in their workplace, including designated First Aiders, supervisors, managers, or anyone looking to gain life-saving skills. It’s especially useful for small businesses, self-employed workers, or teams that require compliance with workplace safety laws. The training suits beginners with no prior First Aid experience as well as those looking to refresh their skills.
Additionally, this course benefits individuals working in environments where medical assistance may not be immediately available. It helps ensure that essential First Aid is available promptly to reduce the severity of workplace accidents or sudden illnesses.
The Emergency First Aid at Work course runs over a single day, typically lasting around 6 to 7 hours including breaks. This makes it a practical choice for busy professionals who need to complete training without extended time away from their workplace. The full day is dedicated to both theory and practical skills, ensuring participants leave with hands-on experience.
Throughout the day, trainers guide attendees through realistic scenarios and demonstrations to enhance learning retention. Breaks are included with refreshments provided, creating a comfortable learning environment.
On successful completion, you will receive a Level 3 Emergency First Aid at Work certificate accredited by Ofqual. The certificate is nationally recognised and valid for three years. It includes a secure QR code that allows employers or inspectors to quickly verify your certification online, adding an extra layer of authenticity.
In addition to the physical certificate, you’ll gain free lifetime access to an online refresher course and a digital First Aid manual to help keep your knowledge current. Support via an AI chatbot is also available 24/7 for quick answers to First Aid questions after your training.
This course is highly practical and designed to give you hands-on experience in real-life emergency skills. You will spend the majority of time practising CPR on mannequins, using defibrillator trainers, and learning how to assist choking casualties safely. Practical sessions also include managing bleeding, fractures, burns, and seizures.
While the course covers essential theoretical knowledge to understand injuries and illnesses, the focus is on active learning to build confidence and muscle memory. This approach helps you retain skills for years to come and respond calmly in real emergencies.
Yes, there is an option to upgrade the course to include Emergency Paediatric First Aid certification at the time of booking. This upgrade adds child-specific First Aid skills without extending the length of the course. It is ideal for those working with children, such as teachers, carers, or youth workers.
Including paediatric certification means you’ll be trained in handling emergencies involving babies and children, covering aspects such as infant CPR, choking, and common childhood illnesses. This gives you extra confidence to provide care in environments where young people are present.
