Once on the water, you’ll have two hours to paddle at your own pace within a clearly defined area. At the end of your session, assistance will be available for landing, keeping the experience straightforward from start to finish.
The session takes place at Lower Greenshall Lane in Disley, along a calm section of the Peak Forest Canal near Bridge 27. This part of the canal is known for its steady water conditions, making it well-suited to relaxed paddling. The surrounding area sits on the edge of the Peak District, offering a quiet countryside setting with nearby walking routes and open green spaces. Despite its rural feel, it remains easily accessible from surrounding towns.
Participants must be able to swim at least 25 metres unaided and be medically fit to take part. Alcohol or drugs must not be consumed before or during the session. All participants are required to follow safety instructions at all times and wear a buoyancy aid while on or near the water. Children under 14 must share a kayak with an adult.
The centre provides a welcoming outdoor space that combines simple activities with a countryside setting, making it easy for visitors to spend time outdoors without needing prior experience. Alongside kayak hire, the wider space supports a mix of activities and gatherings, creating a relaxed environment used by families, friends and local groups.
There is a strong focus on safety and accessibility, with stable equipment, clear guidance and supervised launch areas helping participants feel comfortable from the start. The approach is built around making outdoor experiences straightforward while maintaining a connection to the surrounding environment and supporting shared use of the space.
