From San Juan, a local guide takes you to two river pools on the east side of El Yunque, with a lift included from the meeting point so you do not drive into the forest yourselves. You hike, swim, and can try a rope swing or a natural rock slide, then stop at a family restaurant on the return; food is paid for on the day. The 7 hours include travel, and the walking is on muddy, uneven ground.
Check-in is in San Juan, then the group rides together to the east side of El Yunque. A walk of about 20 to 30 minutes brings you to the first watering hole, with time to swim, use a rope swing, or jump from the rocks if you want to.
A further 15-minute hike leads to a second pool with a natural rock slide and an optional high jump into the river. Jumps and the slide are optional. On the way back the group stops for lunch at a family-run restaurant. Food is not included in the booking. You should be confident in moving water.

The group gathers at Norte Shopping Center on Calle Norte, then an included vehicle drives east to El Yunque, a mountainous rainforest of tall trees, bamboo, guava, and river gorges. This is a meeting-point transfer, not a hotel pickup, so you make your own way to the shopping centre before the start.
The hike is on a natural forest path down to two watering holes. There is no boardwalk. Expect mud, wet rock, and uneven footing, with time in the river at both pools. On the drive back the group stops at a small family restaurant before returning to San Juan, which is why the booking runs to about 7 hours.
A solid level of general fitness is required. The hike is short in distance but the ground is muddy and slippery, and you will be on your feet for much of the river section. You should be able to swim.
