Spend an hour on the shores of Coniston Water with a wood-fired pop-up sauna and optional lake dip. Set at Machell's Coppice on the edge of Grizedale Forest, the session mixes heat, cool air and open water in a small group so you can move at your own pace.
Arrive lakeside and settle into the wood-fired sauna. Heat builds as water hits the stones, then you step outside into forest air or take a refreshing dip in Coniston Water. Within the hour you choose how often to move between hot and cold.
This contrast routine is a simple way to support circulation, ease muscle tension and clear your head. Guides keep the atmosphere calm and welcoming whether it is your first sauna or a regular practice. All important session details travel with your ticket email.
Machell's Coppice sits beside Coniston Water with Grizedale Forest close by. Fells, woodland and open lake give a real sense of space as soon as you arrive.
Allow time for parking and the short walk in. Wear sturdy footwear, as the lakeside ground can be uneven or slippery.
Open to beginners and people returning to sauna practice. You should be comfortable outdoors beside open water and happy to follow safety guidance on the day. Share any relevant health considerations before you enter the heat or the lake.
Sessions are capped at 10 people per hour so there is room to move between sauna, air and water without feeling hurried. This is a true lakeside forest-edge setting, not a spa room.
Aaron and the team host nature-based contrast sessions with clear ticket notes and practical kit guidance, so you know how to arrive prepared.
Sessions last one hour. That time is yours to move between the wood-fired sauna, cool forest air and the water of Coniston at a pace that feels right for you.
There is no fixed circuit you have to follow. Guides are on hand, and the hour is designed to feel calm rather than rushed.
You will meet at Machell's Coppice on Coniston Water, on the edge of Grizedale Forest in the Lake District. The precise pin is included in your booking confirmation.
What3Words for the meeting area is ///equipping.canyons.unsettled. Please read your ticket email in full before travelling, as arriving instructions can matter on the day.
Capacity is capped at 10 people per hour so the lakeside setting stays relaxed. Small groups help the session feel welcoming whether you come alone or with friends.
If a date is full, try another available slot in the calendar or join a later date in the 2026 season.
No previous sauna experience is needed. The session is marked easy and is suitable for first-timers as well as regular sauna-goers.
Move at your own pace between heat and cold, and speak to the team on the day if you want guidance on how to get started safely.
Swimwear, a towel to sit on inside the sauna, water shoes for lake entry, flip flops or sandals around the sauna area, warm layers for afterwards and a water bottle are the essentials.
A robe or dry robe is optional but useful in cooler weather. Wear sturdy footwear for the short walk in, as the lakeside ground can be uneven or slippery.
Outdoor sessions can be affected by extreme weather. Where conditions make it unsafe to run, the session may be postponed and rollover credit offered rather than a cash refund, in line with the stated terms.
You will be contacted if plans change. Always check your confirmation email for the latest details before setting off.
A refreshing dip in Coniston Water is part of the contrast therapy offer, and many guests choose to go in. It is not a pressured swim lesson, and you can step into cool air instead if that feels better.
Listen to your body, enter and exit carefully with water shoes, and ask the team if you are unsure.
For Adventuro bookings, cancellations follow the Firm policy: full refund if you cancel at least 14 days before the booking, 50% between 7 and 14 days, and the full amount thereafter.
Partner terms may also describe rollover credit when a session is postponed for extreme weather. Read both your Adventuro booking terms and the confirmation email.
Changing on site is informal lakeside changing rather than a spa changing suite, so arrive ready with swimwear under clothes if that helps.
Bring a towel for the sauna seat and another or the same towel for drying, plus warm layers for when you finish.
Yes. Solo guests are welcome, and the small group format makes it easy to settle in. Couples and friends book into the same hour when space allows.
The focus is heat, water and quiet time in a powerful landscape, shared with a calm group rather than a noisy party atmosphere.

About the centre
Coniston
Led by Aaron, a qualified breathwork guide, coach, and facilitator in meditation and nature therapy, the work focuses on helping people reconnect more deeply with themselves and with the outdoors. Practices draw on yoga, breathwork, meditation, wild saunas, cold water dips, and time in nature, offering grounded ways to regulate the nervous system and find calm.
Sessions and events are shaped around conscious living as something practical and accessible, whether someone is feeling burnt out, a little lost, or simply wants to feel more grounded and present. The aim is to create welcoming space in wild and beautiful places for community, clarity, and a reset that lasts beyond the day itself.
