Climbing inductions are ideal for those who want to gain the skills needed to climb independently. The session covers all the necessary techniques, from harnessing to belaying, giving you the confidence to explore climbing without an instructor. Once completed, you can register as a member and enjoy full access to the climbing centre.
During the session, you’ll learn the basics of climbing, including how to fit a harness, tie safety knots, and belay. The induction also covers the use of the autobelay system for solo climbing. By the end of the session, you’ll have the skills to climb safely and independently, and you’ll be able to use the centre's facilities without needing an instructor.
We also offer additional options for those who are interested in bouldering or for parents who wish to learn how to supervise and belay their children.
The centre is located in North Devon, a convenient and welcoming spot for those looking to enjoy climbing in a relaxed environment.
The indoor climbing wall and the dedicated bouldering cave are designed for both beginners and experienced climbers, with a focus on safety and enjoyment.
You must be at least 14 years old to take part in the climbing induction. No prior climbing experience is required, but having completed a taster session beforehand will help.
Founded in 2007 by Keith, the centre has grown into a hub for outdoor activities and climbing sessions. Our focus on personal attention, alongside high safety standards, ensures that every climber has an unforgettable experience.
In 2019, we introduced our bouldering cave, which is now the largest of its kind in North Devon, offering an exciting experience for those interested in bouldering. We are fully qualified to lead and train climbers of all levels, ensuring a safe and enjoyable session every time.
You will learn essential climbing skills such as correctly fitting a harness, tying safety knots (including the figure-eight knot), belaying, and using the autobelay system.
These skills are designed to make you a proficient and safe climber, capable of climbing independently at the centre.
No previous climbing experience is required for this induction. It is suitable for complete beginners who are interested in learning the basics of climbing and safety practices.
However, completing a taster session first can help familiarise you with the environment and climbing techniques.
