This full day out combines a jeep safari to Canyon Salama with an afternoon by the sea in Dahab, mixing desert walking with a proper swim and snorkel in the Red Sea. Guests spend the morning inland among sandstone formations before finishing the day on a quieter stretch of coastline than the main Sharm El Sheikh beaches.
Pickup from your hotel starts the day, followed by a drive inland to Canyon Salama, where a guided walk of around an hour weaves through desert plains, weathered sandstone passages and a small oasis. Guides point out the shapes and colours carved into the rock over a long period, and the pace stays gentle enough for most fitness levels.
From the canyon, the trip continues to the Three Pools nature reserve, where lunch is served before free time to swim or snorkel along a quieter stretch of the Red Sea. Before heading back to Sharm El Sheikh, a final stop in Dahab town gives time to browse the shops and see a more laid-back side of the coast.
Canyon Salama sits inland among the mountains of the Sinai peninsula, where wind and water have shaped the sandstone into narrow passages and unusual formations over a long period. Walking through it feels far removed from the coastal resorts most visitors see on arrival.

No previous hiking or snorkelling experience is required, since the canyon walk is gentle and snorkelling gear is simple to use even for first timers. Sturdy, closed footwear is worth wearing, as the ground underfoot is sandy and uneven in places.
