Take the wheel of a two-seat buggy and head out from Sharm El Sheikh into the open Sinai desert, following a guide across sand and rougher tracks with a stop for traditional tea along the way. No previous driving experience is needed, and a private single-buggy option is available for anyone who prefers to drive alone.
After pickup, the group travels to the desert where the buggies are handed over following a safety briefing on the controls and hand signals. From there, the guided route winds across open sand and firmer rocky ground at a pace suited to first-timers.
Partway through, the group stops at a Bedouin tent for a cup of traditional tea and a short chance to sit in the shade. The final stretch then retraces part of the route back towards Sharm El Sheikh.
Once clear of the resort strip, the terrain around Sharm El Sheikh opens into a wide expanse of golden sand backed by the rugged outline of the Sinai mountains, with the scenery changing quickly from beachfront hotels to a quieter, wilder landscape.
The Bedouin tent used for the tea stop sits away from any main road, giving a brief glimpse of desert life away from the tourist areas. It is a calm pause between the two driving sections and a good spot for photos of the surrounding dunes.
No previous buggy or off-road driving experience is required, since the route is guided throughout and briefed before you set off.
Anyone planning to drive should bring a valid driving licence, and comfortable closed shoes are worth wearing given the dusty terrain.
This trip fits a genuine off-road driving experience and a taste of Bedouin hospitality into half a day, making it easy to combine with other plans during a beach holiday.
The two-seat format suits couples or friends who want to share the drive, while a private single-buggy option is available for solo travellers who would rather drive alone.
