Starting from the beautiful Back of Beyond Touring Park, this private tour offers a unique blend of scenic trails, historical insights, and charming villages. Ideal for cycling enthusiasts and nature lovers, this experience promises a memorable day out amidst amazing landscapes.
The adventure kicks off at Back of Beyond Touring Park, where your experienced guide, Steve, will lead you through a captivating route. Initially, you'll set out on the Castleman Trailway, a scenic disused railway line that smoothly takes you to Ringwood. From Ringwood, you'll pedal towards Burley, a quaint village renowned for its free-roaming ponies and cattle, and its traditional Commoning practices. The route through Burley is lined with charming thatched cottages and ancient forest tracks that evoke a sense of timelessness.
Continuing on, you'll ride through the stunning New Forest, an area steeped in history since William the Conqueror established it as his hunting ground in 1079. During the ride, there's an option to stop at the Shappen Café in Burley for a well-deserved coffee and cake break. The return journey promises more amazing scenery and historical intrigue as you make your way back to the starting point.
The tour begins and ends at the Back of Beyond Touring Park, a tranquil and scenic site in the New Forest.
This private location offers a unique starting point, providing direct access to some of the best cycling trails and scenic spots the area has to offer.
Participants should have a good level of fitness and cycling proficiency to enjoy this ride fully. The bike used must be in safe, working order and should be equipped with a puncture repair kit, spare inner tube, and bike pump.
Cycle helmets should be within the manufacturer’s warranty period (3 years from the date of manufacture). A rider information form will need to be completed and returned before the activity date.
Our centre offers a combination of expert guidance and unparalleled safety. Our Mountain Bike Leader is fully qualified to Level 2 through British Cycling and is DBS checked, ensuring a professional and secure experience.
We are also accredited with full public liability insurance through British Cycling, adding an extra layer of confidence to your adventure. We prioritise your safety and enjoyment, with a comprehensive approach to both guiding and first aid.
If you have your own bike then please bring it along. If needed, we can arrange for bike hire for you.
We can offer standard mountain bikes or e-bikes, bikes come from Cyclexperience in Brockenhurst.

While we can accept children on our tours it is on the understanding that they must be able to ride confidently on the road.
Although not all of our tours involve road cycling, there may be times when there are sections that need to be travelled on road.
We require all riders to fill in a rider information form ahead of their tour. Within this includes information about any medical conditions you have. Completing these forms is part of ensuring that you are insured on your ride.

All of our tours feature a ‘pit stop’ at a local café or place to eat.
Please bring your own money or card to purchase any drinks or snacks you require.
Depending on the tour you are doing, dogs may be allowed if in a suitable dog trailer.
