Experience a personalised surf session with a dedicated helper at your side, allowing focus on balance, control, and technique. Choose from Cruiser, Cruiser+, or Turns waves, each offering tailored challenges to match your ability and goals. Sessions combine skill development, fun, and safety in a controlled environment.
The session begins with a warm-up and demonstration of core techniques by your coach. With guidance provided to your helper, you practise entering and exiting waves safely while improving stance, trim, and board control. Cruising waves build rhythm and confidence, and Turns waves provide challenges with carving, cutbacks, and re-entries.
Coaches monitor your progress closely, offering detailed tips to refine timing, positioning, and movement efficiency. Helper support allows focus on technique without sacrificing safety, enabling you to attempt more challenging waves. By the end of the session, participants typically gain increased confidence, improved control, and the satisfaction of riding multiple waves successfully.
Based in Newbridge, Edinburgh, the wave pool sits within a 60-acre country park, providing an inspiring, open environment for learning. The facility produces thousands of waves per hour, offering repeated practice opportunities in consistent, controlled conditions.
Luxury amenities include indoor heated changing rooms, fully accessible toilets, and a large selection of plant-based wetsuits for warmth and comfort. Surrounding terraces and outdoor seating areas allow friends or helpers to observe safely, contributing to a supportive learning atmosphere.
Comfort in water with a dedicated helper is required. A pusher or spotter is necessary for safety, balance support, and assisting with manoeuvres.
All equipment, including surfboards and wetsuits, is provided. Swimwear should be worn underneath, and long hair should be secured. Good mobility and comfort in moving on the board are recommended.
Instruction is focused on combining safety, technique, and enjoyment, creating an inclusive environment for progression. Sessions are structured to allow skill-building and confidence development, with helpers integrated to provide support and reassurance.
The venue pairs state-of-the-art surf technology with scenic surroundings and authentic Scottish hospitality. Helpers are guided to maximise their effectiveness, ensuring participants develop independence and competence while enjoying a memorable, high-quality surf experience.
Changing facilities are available close to where this session is based, providing a warm place to get ready before heading out and somewhere comfortable to warm up afterwards. These areas are designed to be spacious and easy to use, especially for families or anyone managing young children or extra kit.
You’ll find indoor changing rooms with showers, lockers, and amenities such as hair dryers. Everything is arranged so you can store your valuables securely and rinse off after the water without needing to rush.
When this session is running, qualified lifeguards are on duty to monitor the water and keep everyone safe. They work alongside trained surf instructors who handle both the coaching environment and water-based supervision.
Their training covers a wide range of rescue and first-aid skills, ensuring you’re taking part in an activity overseen by professionals who can respond quickly to changing conditions. This gives you the reassurance of having expert support throughout your time in the water.
Wetsuits and accessories suitable for local water conditions are provided as part of this session, including additional items like boots, gloves, or a hood when needed. Boards are also supplied so you don’t need to purchase or carry your own equipment unless you want to.
You’re welcome to bring your own wetsuit if you prefer using personal kit, and the team can check it fits the conditions on the day. Bringing a familiar wetsuit can be helpful for regular surfers wanting a consistent feel in the water.
Local water temperatures can vary, and cooler days are always possible. To keep you comfortable, the centre provides thick wetsuits and thermal accessories designed to retain heat during longer sessions.
Even on cold days, these wetsuits offer consistent warmth so you can focus on your time in the waves. Staff will help ensure you’re dressed appropriately before you start.
There is a café, bar, or restaurant near the activity area where you can order food and drinks before or after this session. Seating is available inside, with some spots offering views of the water so you can watch others surf.
Takeaway options are usually available as well, making it easy to grab something quickly between activities. Staff at the venue can guide you through ordering, dietary information, and seating availability.
Helpers guide entry and exit, maintain stability on the board, and provide gentle nudges for balance. Coaches demonstrate techniques for safe support, ensuring you can practise with confidence.
The helper also helps with positioning and timing on the wave. Over the session, their involvement gradually allows more independent control while keeping you secure.
Some comfort in water and basic surfing familiarity are helpful but not mandatory. Helper support makes the session accessible even if you’re new to riding green waves.
Coaches focus on progression, adapting instructions to suit your experience level, ensuring that everyone can enjoy the waves.
Helpers are trained to provide safe, effective support. Coaches continuously monitor the water and adjust guidance according to conditions and ability.
