Depart Arusha in the morning and travel through the scenic Maasai Steppe towards the Usambara Mountains. After lunch in Lushoto, continue to your mountain lodge before an afternoon guided walk in Magamba Nature Reserve, searching for endemic reptiles and amphibians in the cool montane forest.

Cross the Usambara Mountains into the lush forests of Amani Nature Reserve, passing tea plantations and enjoying a picnic lunch along the way. This internationally recognised biodiversity hotspot supports exceptional reptile and amphibian diversity.

Spend the day exploring riverine and submontane rainforest with your specialist guide. Search for some of East Africa's most sought-after herpetological species before heading out again after dark for intensive spotlight surveys.

Enjoy an optional early morning wildlife walk to search for any remaining target species before breakfast. Afterwards, begin the journey back via Muheza, connecting with onward transport to Arusha, Dar es Salaam or Zanzibar.
