6-Day Beginner Paramotor Course – UK

This 6-day beginner paramotor course is designed for those with no prior experience who want to take their first solo flight. Taking place at Hinton Airfield in Northamptonshire, the course provides structured training, covering essential skills including ground handling, motor operation, and flight techniques. By the end, students will have completed at least one solo flight and will be ready to progress to the Intermediate Paramotor Course.

For those with busy schedules, a flexible weekend option is available, allowing you to complete your training over weekends and ad hoc mornings/evenings when the weather is suitable.

• Location: Hinton Airfield, Northamptonshire (near Brackley, off Junction 11 of the M40)
• Duration: 6 days (Saturday to Thursday)
• Start Time: 09:00 on the first day, meeting outside the cafe at the Skydiving Centre

• Prerequisites: No prior experience required; suitable for complete beginners or paragliding pilots with fewer than 20 hours of experience
• Next Steps: Students can continue training to qualify as an APPI PPG Pilot, either in the UK or by splitting their training between the UK and Spain

Course Breakdown

The training follows the APPI PPG training syllabus and includes:

• Ground handling – Learning to control the wing on the ground
• Motor training – Understanding and handling the paramotor engine
• Theory sessions – Covering air law, meteorology, flight planning, and safety procedures
• Solo flight preparation – Aiming to complete at least one solo flight by the end of the course

Location

Courses take place at Hinton Airfield, a well-established training site in Northamptonshire, near Brackley. It’s easily accessible from London, Birmingham, and Oxford, and just 15 minutes by taxi from Banbury train station.

Prerequisites

• No previous experience is necessary – this course is suitable for complete beginners
• Students must be in reasonable physical condition (able to run short distances during take-off)
• Those over 130kg may require bespoke equipment or may be better suited to a ParaTrike course - please contact us for details

Accommodation & Food

Food and accommodation is not included in the course price, however, there are a range of options if you are not local to the area:

• On-site camping: £15 per night per person, with access to showers and toilets (no electrical hookups for campervans)
• Hotels: The nearest budget-friendly option is the Travelodge at M40 Bicester Services (20 minutes away)
• Food: A cafe is available on-site at the Skydiving Centre, but students are encouraged to bring their own food and water each day
