This youth camp offers children aged 7-15 a fun and educational week combining surfing with music. The sessions blend daily surf lessons with a unique drumming workshop, providing an exciting mix of activity and creativity in a safe, supportive environment.
Each day begins with a surfing lesson guided by experienced instructors who focus on building confidence and teaching not only how to ride waves but also how to read surf conditions and stay safe in the water. The lessons are structured to gradually introduce key topics such as ocean hazards, water safety, and marine life, ensuring a well-rounded understanding of the coastal environment. Kids are encouraged to ask questions and engage with the ocean in a respectful and informed way.
Following the surf sessions, participants take part in a drumming workshop led by a specialist from WE DRUM IRELAND. This offers a creative break where children learn basic beats and enjoy making music together, fostering teamwork and rhythm skills. After each session, warm showers are available at the Surf Centre to keep everyone comfortable before they continue with their day. At the end of the week, each participant receives a diploma recognising their achievements in surfing and drumming, promoting both personal growth and water safety awareness.
The camp is based in Strandhill, a lively coastal town in Ireland known for excellent surfing conditions and a welcoming community. The meeting point is the National Surf Centre, located in the heart of Strandhill with easy access to the beach and facilities. The town itself offers a relaxed atmosphere perfect for families, with plenty of local amenities, shops, and places to eat nearby.
Strandhill is renowned for its consistent waves, making it an ideal place for young surfers to learn and progress. The surrounding landscape combines wild coastline and friendly community spaces, providing a safe and inspiring environment for children to enjoy both the water and local culture during their stay.
Children must be aged between 7 and 15 years to participate. Beginners and those with some surf experience are welcome, as sessions are tailored to different skill levels. All participants should bring a swimsuit and towel, while all necessary surfing equipment, including wetsuits and boards, is provided.
Parents are encouraged to stay and watch or leave their children in the care of certified instructors, who ensure safety and provide support throughout the camp.
The instructors are fully certified by the Irish Surfing Association, Water Safety Ireland, and Child Protection standards, with all staff Garda vetted for peace of mind. The team has years of experience and a passion for sharing their knowledge in a friendly and encouraging way. The camp's unique combination of surfing and music workshops creates a balanced programme that promotes physical activity, creativity, and learning.
Located in one of Europe’s best surf spots, the camp benefits from the founders' deep connection to the ocean and their dedication to fostering community spirit. This creates a welcoming, safe, and inspiring environment for young surfers to develop skills, confidence, and a lasting appreciation for the sea.
