Get ready for five days of saltwater, skills, and good energy with this adults-only surf camp in Strandhill. Perfect for beginners or those looking to improve, each week is packed with friendly instruction, great waves, and time well spent in the sea. You’ll be learning fast, building confidence, and enjoying the buzz of a surf session in one of Ireland’s most wave-rich coastlines.
Each Monday kicks off a new week of surf camp, running daily through to Friday. You’ll spend 2.5 hours each day learning practical surfing techniques under the guidance of ISA-certified instructors. Lessons start on the sand with safety, theory, and warm-ups, before moving into the water to work on catching waves and standing up. Whether it’s your first time or you’ve tried a few sessions before, the camp is paced to suit beginner and intermediate levels.
Beyond the lessons, there’s a strong social side to the experience too. You’ll meet fellow learners of all ages who are there to relax, have fun, and support each other in the water. The camp uses the National Surf Centre’s modern facilities, with hot showers and changing areas available after every session. All gear is provided, so all you need is a towel, a swimsuit, and a good attitude.
Strandhill is a small but lively coastal town on Ireland’s northwest coast, known for its powerful Atlantic swells and laid-back charm. It’s one of the most consistent surf spots in the country, drawing wave riders from across Europe. Surf beaches stretch just minutes from the centre of town, with easy access to cafés, restaurants, and cliff walks for those staying a bit longer.
The camp is based at the National Surf Centre, right by the main beach. The location is ideal for learning to surf, with a sandy bottom, a wide beach break, and waves suitable for all levels. Strandhill also offers beautiful views of Knocknarea and the surrounding Sligo coastline, making it a great spot to unwind before or after your session.
This camp is open to anyone aged 16 or over, with no prior experience needed. You should be comfortable in the water and able to swim, but everything else will be covered during the sessions.
If you're already surfing but looking to improve, coaches will help you progress with personal tips and challenges across the week.
