This four-day route from Ouarzazate follows the classic road east through Todra and Dades gorges toward Merzouga. You'll have time to walk palm valleys and sleep in the Dades before the camel evening on Erg Chebbi. The pacing allows gorge scenery and desert camp without rushing the long transfer days.
Day one explores Skoura and the Valley of Roses with a guesthouse night in Dades, where you can walk beside the canyon in the cool of the afternoon. Day two walks Todra Gorges between high limestone walls and continues east toward Merzouga with a hotel night in town before the dunes, so you are not riding camels straight off a ten-hour road marathon.
Day three is the camel ride into Erg Chebbi camp, sunset on the tallest sand lines, dinner and music under the stars. Day four brings sunrise on the dunes, the ride back and a relaxed return through the Draa Valley to Ouarzazate with palm stops and kasbah viewpoints along the homeward road.
The four-day pace suits travellers who want Merzouga without compressing Dades, Todra and the dune evening into two long days. Starting in Ouarzazate keeps you on the desert side of the Atlas for the whole loop, with Erg Chebbi as the eastern highlight.
Skoura palmeraie, rose valleys and Todra canyon walls line the approach, then the horizon opens into rolling sand at Merzouga. The Dades guesthouse night places you inside the gorge country with time to explore on foot before the long drive east.
You should be comfortable with daily travel and optional gorge walks on mostly flat paths. The camel ride into camp is gentle and led at a slow pace suitable for first-time riders.

The gorges are the main stop of the day. Wear shoes you can walk in if you leave the vehicle.
You continue toward Erfoud, with a stop at a fossil workshop, then Rissani if the souk is on. Night two is dinner and a stay in a Merzouga desert hotel.
This is still a road day. The camel and 4x4 wait until day three, so you arrive without rushing into camp.
You explore Erg Chebbi by 4x4, visit nomads for lunch and ride camels to camp for sunset. Night three is in the desert camp.
The dune day is the active centre of the trip. Tell the driver if you want a shorter circuit or more time on a high dune for photographs.
After the morning camel ride back to the village you drive Agdz and the Draa Valley toward Ouarzazate. A stop at the film studios sits at the end if time allows.
Drop-off is at your hotel or a point you agree in advance, usually by early evening.
You'll be collected from your hotel in Ouarzazate around 8.30am. The first day runs east through Dades and Todra.
On day four you are dropped back in Ouarzazate after the Draa Valley drive, usually by early evening.
Night one is in a riad near Todra after the gorge day. Night two is in a desert hotel in Merzouga. Night three is in an Erg Chebbi camp after the camel ride.
The camp is tents, a shared dinner and a night beside the dunes. Bring a warm layer for the hotel and camp evenings.
You'll be collected from your hotel in Ouarzazate on the morning of day one.
On day four you return through the Draa Valley to Ouarzazate, usually by early evening. Share your hotel, riad or port arrival details when you enquire and we confirm pickup time the day before travel, including the nearest vehicle access on narrow medina lanes.
Optional walks in Dades and Todra gorges add light activity between driving days. The camel ride is the main desert on-foot experience.

Sun protection, comfortable travel clothes, a warm evening layer and closed shoes for sand and gorge paths are essential.
A scarf helps on the camel ride. Keep a camera ready for Todra canyon walls. Keep a refillable water bottle and any daily essentials in the bag you carry in the vehicle, and ask when you enquire if you want seasonal advice for Atlas cold or desert heat.

If your day two timing aligns with market days, your driver can stop at Rissani souk before Merzouga.
