Feel the power of a high-performance jet boat as it accelerates, spins, and carves across the water in this compact 20-minute experience. This fast-paced ride is ideal for anyone who wants maximum excitement in a short time slot during their day in Malta. Hold on tight as the skipper puts the boat through its paces with rapid manoeuvres and sharp changes of direction.
As soon as the engine powers up, you’ll feel the jet boat surge away from the jetty and out towards open water. The jet drive system delivers strong acceleration and precise control, allowing the skipper to perform sharp turns, rapid stops, and energetic 360-degree spins. You can expect quick transitions from straight-line speed to sudden changes of direction that keep the whole boat engaged from the first minute to the last.
Across the 20-minute session, the skipper will link together a sequence of manoeuvres designed to maximise fun while staying within strict safety limits. Rapid slides, spray-filled turns, and quick bursts of speed are all part of the experience, with short pauses between sets of moves so you can catch your breath and enjoy the views around St Julian’s and St George’s Bay. Spray, wind, and plenty of laughter are all part of the ride as the boat works through its full range of handling.
The format is intentionally compact, giving you an intense dose of on-water action without taking up your whole day. With departures running hourly from late morning into the evening, it’s easy to fit the jet boat ride in around swimming, beach time, or exploring Malta’s coastline. You’ll step off the boat energised, a bit wet, and with a memorable highlight from your time in Malta.
This jet boat experience runs from St Julian’s on Malta’s northeast coast, a popular area known for its bays, coastal walks, and wide choice of cafés, bars, and restaurants. St George’s Bay provides a convenient launch point, with quick access to open water so you spend more time on high-speed manoeuvres and less time on slow harbour transits. It’s easy to reach by public transport, taxi, or on foot if you’re staying nearby.
The meeting point is the jetty behind the Verdi St. George’s Bay Marina Hotel at 8, Ix-Xatt Ta' San Ġorġ. When you arrive near the entrance to the hotel’s underground parking, you’ll see a black iron gate. Go through the gate, walk down the ramp, turn left, and follow the yellow line painted on the ground until you reach the jetty where the powerboats and jet skis are moored. This clear route makes it straightforward to find the boat, even if it’s your first time in the area.
This jet boat ride is best suited to guests in good general health who enjoy speed, movement, and being out on the water. It is not suitable for children under 12 years, people with mobility impairments or wheelchair users, or anyone with known heart or back problems. Pregnant guests must not take part, and the experience is not recommended for people who are prone to seasickness or motion sickness.
Adults over 65 years should only join if they are confident in their fitness and have no relevant medical issues. All participants must arrive sober and not under the influence of alcohol or drugs; anyone considered unfit to participate will be refused boarding for safety reasons. As this is a water-based activity, you should arrive prepared to get wet and dressed in suitable clothing.
This experience is built around pure performance on the water, using jet drive propulsion to deliver sharp handling and agile manoeuvres that standard propeller boats cannot match. The short 20-minute format makes it ideal if you want a concentrated burst of high-speed fun that fits easily into a busy holiday schedule. Regular departures throughout the day give you flexibility to choose a time that works around your plans in St Julian’s and the wider Malta area.
Safety and comfort are prioritised, with a clear pre-ride briefing, compulsory life jackets, and firm rules on remaining seated throughout the trip. The crew are used to working with mixed groups, from first-time visitors to experienced adventure seekers, and they focus on giving you a controlled, enjoyable, and memorable high-speed boat experience along one of Malta’s most popular stretches of coastline.
The ride is fast and physical, with rapid acceleration, sharp turns, sudden stops, and 360-degree spins. You will feel strong forces as the boat changes direction and speed, and you should expect plenty of spray and movement throughout the 20 minutes. Even though it is classed as a moderate activity, you need to be comfortable with speed on the water and able to hold on firmly to the safety rails while seated.
You should dress for a wet, windy environment on the water. Swimwear, quick-drying shorts, sports tops, or light beach clothing work well, ideally with secure footwear such as water shoes or sandals with straps. Loose hats and accessories can easily blow away at speed, so it is best to leave anything that could come off in your bag. Cotton clothing and denim can feel heavy and cold when soaked, so lighter technical or beachwear fabrics are more comfortable.
You should plan to get at least partially wet, especially during sharp turns and spins when spray comes over the side. The amount of water varies with wind direction and sea state, but it is safest to assume that your clothes will be damp or wet by the end of the ride. Bringing a towel and a spare layer to change into afterwards is strongly recommended, especially if you are heading straight into town, to a restaurant, or onto public transport after the activity.
For safety reasons, children under 12 years old cannot take part in this activity. It is also not recommended for adults over 65 unless they are in very good health and comfortable with fast, physical movement. Everyone must be able to follow safety instructions, remain seated without assistance, and hold on securely during the manoeuvres, so this experience is not suitable for very young children or anyone who needs support with balance.
People with heart conditions, back or neck problems, or any similar medical issues should not join the ride, as the forces from sudden turns and stops can aggravate injuries or underlying conditions. The activity is also unsuitable for pregnant guests, people with significant mobility impairments, or wheelchair users. If you are unsure whether this is appropriate for you, it is best to speak to a medical professional before booking and choose a calmer boat trip instead if you have any doubts.
If you know you are prone to seasickness or motion sickness, this activity may not be comfortable for you. The jet boat uses rapid turns, spins, and quick changes of direction, which create strong motion in multiple directions rather than a steady, predictable pattern. This can trigger symptoms faster than a slower sightseeing cruise. Even though the ride lasts only 20 minutes, the intensity of the movement means those who are very sensitive might struggle.
If you still want to try it despite mild motion issues, consider taking appropriate motion sickness tablets in advance (following medical advice and the instructions on the packaging) and avoid heavy meals, alcohol, and very sugary drinks before boarding.
The jet boat uses water-jet propulsion instead of exposed propellers, which allows precise control and agile manoeuvres while keeping the risk of propeller-related injuries to an absolute minimum. Before departure, you will receive a clear safety briefing covering how to sit, where to hold on, and what to expect from the spins and turns. Life jackets are mandatory for all participants and are provided on site at no extra cost.
The skipper is trained and experienced in operating the boat at speed, and manoeuvres are only performed within safe limits based on the sea conditions on the day. The crew monitor passengers during the ride and will adjust the intensity if necessary. You will be required to remain seated for the entire trip, and anyone under the influence of alcohol or drugs will be refused boarding to protect both their safety and the safety of others.
The departure point is on the jetty behind the Verdi St. George’s Bay Marina Hotel in St Julian’s. When you arrive at 8, Ix-Xatt Ta' San Ġorġ, head towards the entrance to the hotel’s underground parking area. You will see a black iron gate near this entrance. Go through the gate, walk down the ramp, turn left, and follow the yellow line painted on the ground until you reach the jetty where the boats and jet skis are moored.
This route is designed to make navigation simple, even if it is your first time in the area. St Julian’s is well connected by bus and taxi, and many visitors choose to walk if they are staying nearby around St George’s Bay or Paceville. It is a good idea to allow a little extra time in case traffic is busy around the waterfront, especially in peak season when the area can be lively throughout the day.
You must arrive 15–20 minutes before your scheduled departure time to allow for check-in, fitting of life jackets, and the safety briefing. If you arrive exactly at departure time or after the boat has already left the jetty, you are very likely to miss your slot. Because the schedule runs throughout the day and other guests are booked onto specific time slots, the crew cannot delay departures for late arrivals without affecting the entire timetable.
In most cases, late arrival is treated as a no-show, and the standard cancellation policy applies. This usually means your booking cannot be refunded or moved if you do not arrive in time. To avoid disappointment, plan your journey so you can comfortably arrive early, factoring in traffic, parking, and time to find the meeting point. If you think you might be delayed, contact the provider as early as possible, although rescheduling is not guaranteed.
