Experience the excitement of surfing in a sea kayak at one of the best surf beaches on the South Coast. This course is designed for those who are already confident in a kayak and are looking to elevate their skills. With the perfect waves and expert guidance, you'll learn to surf with ease.
On the first day, you'll start with a morning welcome and introduction, including a review of the day’s objectives and a safety briefing. The session begins by launching from the Avon estuary, where you’ll practise basic surf kayak techniques on small waves. After a break for lunch, the afternoon focuses on building confidence with larger waves and advanced manoeuvres. The day ends with a group debrief and feedback session.
On the second day, you'll begin with a warm-up and a recap of the previous day’s skills. The morning session will involve tackling intermediate waves, with an emphasis on improving timing and control. After a lunch break, the final session will allow you to test your skills on the larger waves further down the beach. The course concludes with a comprehensive debrief, personalised feedback, and recommendations for continued improvement.
Bantham Beach, located in Devon, offers ideal conditions for surf kayaking with its sheltered launch area in the Avon estuary and a variety of wave sizes to suit all skill levels.
Participants should be confident in a sea kayak and have a basic understanding of kayaking techniques. A reasonable level of fitness is also required.

We had a great time. The instructor made us feel constantly reassured that we were in good hands. He was also really knowledgeable about the area and able to introduce us to great opportunities to explore various caves and coves during our training.
