Our beginner coasteering in Cornwall offers a gentle introduction to this exciting activity. Led by experienced guides, you'll explore the coastline, with a focus on fun and enjoyment.
Expect a mix of swimming, scrambling, and optional jumps, tailored to your comfort level. With low tide conditions, there's more exposed rock to walk on, reducing the need for extensive swimming.
Additionally, you'll discover the hidden wonders of the intertidal habitat, from colourful seaweeds to unique marine life, guided by our knowledgeable instructors.
Praa Sands, nestled in scenic west Cornwall, provides the perfect backdrop for your coasteering adventure. With its sandy shores and rocky outcrops, it's an ideal spot for beginners to experience the thrill of the sea safely. The specific meeting point will be confirmed upon booking.
No prior coasteering experience is necessary. Participants should have a basic level of fitness and be comfortable swimming in the sea.
Young children (9-10 years old) may find this experience particularly suitable. If you are a group of adults, looking for something to push you further out of your comfort zone, you might prefer our standard coasteering adventure, available to book at the bottom of this page.

Basic swimming ability is required, but our guides provide support and assistance throughout the session. Low tide conditions reduce the need for extensive swimming.
No, jumps are optional, and our beginner sessions focus on enjoyment rather than extreme challenges. Small to medium jumps are available for those who choose to participate.
Our beginner sessions move at a slower pace, with less swimming required, making them suitable for participants with varying fitness levels. Our experienced guides ensure a safe and fun experience for all.
Participants must be at least 9 years old, and children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.
Beginner sessions provide a family-friendly environment, perfect for young adventurers.
Coasteering continues in rainy weather, as participants will be in the water regardless.
However, extreme conditions may necessitate session postponement or alternative activities.
The inter-tidal zone teems with marine life, offering opportunities to observe various sea creatures, from seaweed and birds, to seals and dolphins on occasion.
Contact lenses are generally suitable for coasteering, although there's a slight risk of losing them.
Glasses wearers may need a securing strap or alternative eyewear.
Participants may use their own wetsuits, provided they meet winter-grade specifications (5/4mm thickness). We can assess suitability upon arrival.
While some may perceive coasteering as risky, when conducted with certified providers following safety guidelines, it's a relatively safe adventure activity.
Risk is inherent in all adventure sports, but proper management keeps it to acceptable levels.
