Absolutely brilliant experience, would highly recommend to everyone!
We partner with Rewilding Britain to help protect our natural spaces for future adventures.
All centres are vetted for safety and quality. Your adventure is in good hands with adventuro.

When you have had some previous experience of kayaking and canoeing and you know how to hold a paddle, our two-day improvers course helps you advance with coaching on real coastal venues. You will try a range of boats, paddles, and equipment while learning to use the skeg effectively in wind and to trim the boat for better glide.
By the end of the course you should feel confident paddling with peers, with the awareness to plan sensible trips on your own. We develop your edging skills so you can turn and hold line with less corrective paddling, and we visit both estuary and headland venues to feel how tide and wind differ.
Distances are typically around 12 to 16 km over the two days, with coaching stops for skills and safety topics. We carry a waterproof camera during the trip and share images with you afterwards.
We select launch sites to match the syllabus and forecast, including Oddicombe or Meadfoot for Hopes Nose, Paignton backwaters, Brixham and Berry Head, Dart access from Kingswear, and Teign routes from Shaldon or Coombe Cellars.
You paddle within the English Riviera UNESCO Global Geopark, with sheltered training water and more exposed coastal sections introduced as your skills build.
This is an adults-only course because solo touring kayaks are used on committing coastal legs. You should already be comfortable with basic paddling strokes and some time on the water.
We begin with a friendly chat to confirm this is the right step. Share your paddling background when you request dates and we will advise on preparation and kit.
Instruction is tailored to your starting point, and small groups mean direct feedback on technique, boat fit, and decision making on the water.
Our coaches work year round on Torbay and South Devon coasts, so you learn skills in the same environments where you will paddle afterwards.
You are encouraged to bring snacks and water with you, and in the summer months, we recommend you bring shorts and sports tops. Weather conditions can change, but we will outfit you with any technical clothing that you may require.
Yes. You should already be comfortable paddling and have some sea kayaking time before joining this two-day improvers course.
If you are new to the sport, complete our full-day beginners intro to sit-in sea kayaking first, or contact us with your experience so we can suggest the right entry point.
The course is designed for adults aged 18 and over because we use solo touring kayaks on coastal routes with tidal movement.
Teenagers are only considered in exceptional circumstances after we discuss prior training and fitness with you and a parent or guardian.
We plan venues around the forecast and may shorten exposed legs or swap launch sites if wind or swell increases. Your safety and learning outcomes guide every decision on the day.
Technical clothing is available when temperatures drop or rain arrives, and we use sheltered water for skills before returning to open coastal sections when appropriate.
Standard courses run with up to six paddlers and qualified coaching staff, keeping enough time for individual feedback on technique and boat handling.
Larger private groups can be arranged with additional guides if you tell us your numbers when you request dates.
Complete our full-day beginners intro or show equivalent experience on sheltered and coastal water before booking improvers.
Send a short note about where you have paddled, which craft you have used, and any training you have taken so we can confirm fit before we approve your place.
Expect focused work on skeg use, edging, efficient forward paddling, trim, and reading simple tidal differences between estuary and headland venues.
We also cover practical trip planning topics that help you paddle with peers after the course ends.
Bring snacks and drinking water, shorts or sports tops in summer, and warm layers for cooler months. We provide technical kit when conditions require it.
Old shoes that can get wet, sun protection, and a towel are useful. Transport to the daily meeting point is not included.
Most two-day blocks cover roughly 12 to 16 km in total, split across skills sessions and guided journey legs.
Exact distance depends on the group, weather, and launch site; we adjust pace so everyone can absorb coaching without rushing.
Many guests train in our fleet so you can try different boat types during the course. If you prefer your own kayak, tell us when you request a date so we can confirm suitability and loading for the planned venues.
Your coach can also help you tune outfitting and skeg use on a boat you already own.
Graduates often continue to our two-day intermediate course for incident management, rescues, and more exposed coastal skills.
Guided day tours on the English Riviera are another good next step when you want mileage with a coach without a full syllabus format.

Absolutely brilliant experience, would highly recommend to everyone!
Kieran was an organised, pleasant, knowledgeable and interesting tour guide. Also clearly, a very good kayaka. The only critique would be the size of the group. It was just too long to get everyone geared up and at the cave for all kayaks to go into and out. Otherwise a…
Great, good local knowledge, friendly instructor. Lots of wildlife and little adventures had. Recommend.
Amazing experience, would highly recommend to anyone!
Jose was very friendly and helpful! The bikes he provided were great for the price, and we enjoyed a unique gravel bike adventure in Spain. There were very few other companies offering gravel bike rentals. I would 100% recommend this adventure with Jose to any travelers in Spain looking to…
It was really enjoyable. I had never done kayaking before but after some short, simple clear instruction I was confidently making it way along the coastline. It was great to see things from the water you would've otherwise have been able to get a view of. I would definitely do…
Excellent day out with super efficient Kieran and Sam. Even a novice like me finally cracked the code to a good kayaking. The caves, guided tour on geological formations punctuated by marshmallow roasting and fossil hunting truly enhanced the overall experience. Would love to do it again. Plus - a…
