Comayagua is the colonial valley town on the way between Tegucigalpa and the north, plus the eastern approaches to Lake Yojoa. You'll stop here because the road goes through, and you'll stay if the lake or a quieter inland night is the point. It's a hinge, not Honduras's headline wilderness.
Lake approaches and a road-day pause
Kayaking and birding pull you toward Yojoa rather than around the cathedral. Use Comayagua as a civilised sleep between the capital and Santa Bárbara's western shore, or as a meeting point if the listing says so. Don't invent a mountain-week here that belongs in Lempira.
