We had a great time. Fred was a great coach. Will definitely come again
Our instructor Harlyn was great! She is obviously really skilled and made sure we knew what to do and my daughter really learned a lot!
Steph was great, loved the lesson
Coasterring with Lizard adventure. Great day out. Rory was great with us. Got some sea snacks along the way. Great jumps for all levels. Saw the seals. All in all a great day out
I was impressed that Steve contacted me to ask if my adolescents would like a more adventurous experience and tailored the coasteering to them. They all had a great time - came back exhilarated and exhausted. Thanks also for taking some great photos
Chris and Chloe were great guides and coaches, and provided us a wonderfull experience.
We had the best time! There 5 in our group today and Ru was the best guide. He made sure everyone was safe, comfortable with the level of challenge and knowledgeable about the area, flora, and fauna. The views from the cliffs and water were absolutely stunning! I’m so glad…
We had a fab time with Steve guiding us. A wide range of abilities and Steve enabled us all to meet our challenges and succeed. Highly recommend this as an amazing activity. Thumbs up for Steve. Thank you.
Five stars great fun and engaging and entertaining hosting!

A private coach works with your group on Gwithian Towans for two hours, whether that is one person, a family or friends who want the same peak to themselves. The brief, the drills and the water time follow the youngest or the least confident person in the group. Boards and wetsuits are included, and you can keep the kit for an extra hour afterwards.
Meet at the cafe above the beach, change, then tell the coach what you want from the two hours. The land brief is short. The rest is in the water, with the coach next to you rather than splitting attention across an open group. If children are in the party, the pace stays with them.
Please arrive 15 minutes early. Changing rooms, toilets and lockers are at the meeting point. After the lesson you can keep the kit for another hour. If Gwithian is not usable we move the lesson and message you. Larger groups may have more than one coach so the ratio stays useful.
Gwithian Towans sits on the north coast near Hayle. The meeting point is Sunset Surf Cafe at 10 Gwithian Towans, TR27 5BT, with a walk down to the sand. Parking is on the Towans.
If the beach is closed or the swell is not useful, we pick another north-coast spot within about 30 minutes and send the new meeting point. A cafe and toilets sit at the top of the beach.
No surfing experience is needed. You should be happy swimming about 25 metres in the sea. Children from five can join. The session follows the youngest or least confident person, so a mixed family still works, just at a calmer pace.
Bring swimwear, a towel and warm clothes. Your own full-length wetsuit is fine. Anyone under 18 needs an adult on the beach. Under-eights who want a shorter hour of their own can ask about a Young Guns slot instead.
Chris has run lessons on this beach for more than 20 years and used to head the British surf team. Coaches hold surf awards and lifeguard qualifications, and the school is a Surfing England Centre of Excellence.
A private slot means the coach is yours. You choose the time around the tide, and we can add a second coach if the group is large or split by age. You turn up with a towel.
Meet at Sunset Surf Cafe, 10 Gwithian Towans, Hayle, TR27 5BT. Park on the Towans and walk to the cafe above the beach.
Please arrive 15 minutes before your start time so you can change and talk through what you want from the session.
The coach is yours. You set the time around the tide, and the drills follow your group rather than a mixed open session. Families and mixed abilities stay together instead of splitting across a group slot.
The water time is still about two hours, with the same kit and the same extra hour afterwards. If you are happy joining other bookers, the group lesson on this beach is the cheaper option.
From one person up to 16. For larger parties we add another coach so the ratio stays useful. Tell us the headcount and ages when you book.
The pace follows the youngest or least confident person. That is the trade-off of keeping a mixed family on one peak together.
Five. Children under eight often do better in a shorter Young Guns hour of their own, with a maximum of two children. Ask if that sounds a better fit than a full two hours.
Anyone under 18 needs an adult on the beach. The adult can stay on the sand or join the water time as part of the same booking.
Sunset Surf Cafe, 10 Gwithian Towans, Hayle, TR27 5BT. Park on the Towans, change at the cafe, then walk down to the sand. Lockers and toilets are there.
If Gwithian is not usable we send a new meeting point for a nearby beach. Check your messages the evening before.
A board, a wetsuit, a rash vest and boots when the water is cold. You can wear your own full-length suit. We match boards to weight, age and how the bay is working.
After the two hours you can keep that kit for another hour. That extra hour is unguided.
Yes, within the times we can staff and the tide. Once you book we confirm a slot that also works with the swell. Typical starts sit around late morning and mid-afternoon.
If the tide or wind moves, we may shift you an hour either way and tell you as soon as we can.
Rain does not cancel a lesson. We move or cancel when the beach is unsafe or there is nothing useful to ride. A nearby beach is the first option.
If we cancel, we rearrange. Message us the day before if you are driving a long way and want a sense of the forecast.
Swimwear, a towel, warm dry clothes and sunscreen. A water bottle helps. Get changed into swimwear before you arrive if you want to skip the queue.
Leave bags in a locker or the car. Give the coach any medication you need in the water.
Yes. Several private hours across a week work well if you want a plan rather than a one-off. Get in touch after the first booking and we will line up the other dates around tide and coaches.
Each session is still two hours on the same beach, unless we have to move for conditions.
You need to be happy swimming about 25 metres in the sea. Beginners stay in water they can stand in. The coach is a lifeguard and stays close.
If someone in the group is nervous, say so when you book. We will keep that person in the inside and not push them out the back.
