Beneath the glow of torchlight and surrounded by snow-covered woodland, this winter walking adventure offers a memorable way to experience Oslo after dark. Combining a cosy campfire, local traditions and a peaceful forest walk, it's an activity that captures the atmosphere of a Scandinavian winter evening.
Leaving central Oslo behind, you'll travel by metro into the hills above the city where your winter adventure begins. Before entering the forest, there is time to admire the sparkling city lights below and enjoy the contrast between urban Oslo and the snowy landscapes surrounding it.
Gathering beside frozen Øvresetertjern Lake, you'll warm up around a campfire with hot drinks and toasted marshmallows. This relaxed setting offers the perfect opportunity to learn about Norwegian winter traditions and enjoy the cosy atmosphere that Scandinavians often describe as "hygge".
Once darkness settles in, each guest receives a hand-held flame torch and a full safety briefing before setting off through the forest. The gentle torchlight creates a unique atmosphere as you walk beneath snow-covered trees, while your guide shares stories and local knowledge along the route. The experience concludes with a short walk back to the metro station for the journey into Oslo.
Private departures are available for families and groups. Please send us an enquiry via the "Can't find dates or have a large group?" button above the booking form.
